Also have the same problem with ours - purchased a 55" lcd/hdtv and have to constantly adjust volume especially between commercials and programs. Can bearly hear the program turn it up and it blasts you out of your seat at commercial time. Had cable company out and it is definitely not the cable. Also have a problem with TV constantly shutting on & off. Does anyone have a solution???

We replaced the IR sensor on our Vizio but still cannot control the volume via the remote (which has tested good). Any further suggestions?

Since sensor is receiving the signal of other inputs, there is nothing wrong with it. This looks like an incompatibility issue. You may have to retry using the original remote control.

Vizio remote control not working

Hi, I had the same problem. My vizio remote for my 42 inch 2 month old vizio also seemed to stop working. Here's what I did: My vizio remote (like most remote's nowadays) was designed for multiple components (tv, dvd, vcr, etc). All you need to do to make the remote work again is set it back to tv. Now, the confusing thing about vizio remotes is that they actually have TWO places where you can switch the remote to the appliance you want to control. One is on top of the remote, the other is on the BOTTOM. Switch it back to TV using the BOTTOM. My remote had stopped working because I had inadvently switched it to another component on the BOTTOM component switch.

Verizon remote won't work

I am a Verizon tech and the remotes we use work for Vizio sets just fine. If for some reason the remote wont work and he tried 3 different ones then it has to be your set. I set FIOS up all day and have no trouble with those TVs

Vizio and the directv dvr

Vizio recommends using code 11758 or 10178 for Cable/Satellite universal remotes that use five digits such as DirecTV. For four digit Cable/Satellite universal remotes , use 1758 or 0178. For three digit Cable/Satellite universal remotes, such as Dish or Echostar, use 627. These codes typically make the Power, Volume and Mute functions work.

Code for Vizio tv

I contacted Vizio the other day. They tell me that they use the same generic codes as LG. I have Suddenlink Cable, formerly Charter, so I still use the Charter remote. My remote only needed 3 digits and I have noticed that many need 4 or 5. I can tell you that the LG code worked for my tv. I can power on/off, volume, and change the channel. All other functions require the manufacture's remote. The code I used is 005. There was also 004 but that did not work on my tv. Hope this helps someone!
