If found a very detailed list of instructions on kioskea.com. The last few sections cover resetting PC to factory settings without the original disks, using a hidden D partition on the hard drive. A password is required and the last section tells how to even recover the password is forgotten/lost.

Hope this helps,

Steve

Acer are cheap and they don't provide you with a factory restore disk. You need to make this factory disk yourself. I know how to do this, but it is to much for me to type and here is a really really good reference site for you to visit to get instruction to make your own factory restore disk. After making that restore disc,  pop the disk into your laptop and turn of your laptop and restart and the factory restore program should start, if it should not start then go into your bios menu and have it boot from your Dvd-Rom and save, after full restoration, make sure you turn your boot priority back to where your Os is being installed, exm hard drive.

Hi,

You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the data on the computer.

You can also create a set to Recovery disk from the recovery partition, to do so

Start Menu> All Programs> Acer erecovery management> Click Create Factory Default Disk, if you receive any error code or unable to burn the disk, please contact Acer Technical support at 1 800 816 2237 and order for an Recovery Disk.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

I dont know how to restore my acer with linux back to factory settings

The Acer Aspire One is a netbook, not a laptop. A netbook is a smaller, scaled-down version of a laptop. It does not have the memory capacity or graphics of a regular laptop. It also lacks a CD drive, which means you cannot restore the Acer Aspire One with restore discs. Instead, the netbook has a built-in factory restore feature. You can reset the Acer Aspire One to factory settings just using your keyboard. Only restore your netbook to factory settings if you cannot fix the problem any other way.

Save any files or folders on your Acer Aspire One with flash drives. Drag and drop files onto the icon of your flash drive. Go to "Start" > "Restart" to reboot your netbook. Hold down "Alt" and "F10" when you see the Acer logo on the screen. The recovery menu will load. Hit "Enter" and then "Next" to see your recovery options. Choose "Factory Restore" to set your netbook back to factory settings. Follow the instructions on the screen. Choose your time zone and language when the customization menu appears. Reboot the netbook when you are prompted. Restore your saved files from the flash drive.

I want to Restore my Acer5315 back to factory settings> I dont have recovery CD. Please i need help thank you.

Telephone ACER's "technical support", and order a replacement set of "System Recovery" CD/DVD disks. Probably, about $20, plus $20 for overnight courier-shipping.

Then, backup all your files, and use those disks to restore your computer.

Restore back to factory settings

Hi,
If the laptop didn't come with restore CD's then chances are that there is a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive that you need to access to recover it back to factory state.
Restart the PC and press ALT+F10 to get into the recovery mode and restore the laptop, you can also try empowering technology, eRecovery software to restore the machine.

Good luck

WILL not resetting to factory settings

You will need to burn a Recovery CD / DVD set from the icon located on the desktop/ In your Acer Home Start utility (The window loading at startup) or from the Start Menu.

Using this disk you will be able to do a System Restore back to original factory setup.
