No it is not the same. the SB 900 is 25% bigger.
I just got a Coco ring for my SB 800 (I bougth the one for the SB 900) and it is big. But I just filled the empty space with hard foam and works wonders. I can post a photo if you want.
By the way I have a D 700. It migth fit different in other cameras.

DOES IT WORK WITH NIKON D300S

Yes, though it's an older flash unit and cannot be used in the iTTL mode. The "Other Flash Units" section of the D300s manual (page 350 in my copy) lists the modes in which the flash may be used. Another concern is that the flash may not work well with certain lenses. The "Usable lenses and cameras" section of the SB-29 manual (page 5) discusses this.

If you need manual, you can download the D300s manual from
http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16525/kw/D300S/r_id/116678
and the SB-29 manual from

My sb-50dx is making werid noises after a flash is

The weird noises could signal that the charge system is going bad, the very long warm up is not a good thing.. The flash may need to be repaired, but the cost of repairing an old SB-50 as compaired to buying a new SB-400 or Sb-600 has to be weighed. Take the flash to a local camera shop that sells nion and let them look at it.

Will this work with D2X

The SB-29 was made to work with film cameras. It will work on your D2X, but only in manual mode.

I have a Samsung Pro815 and a Metz CT1 Flash

I believe the Metz does not have a hotshoe, does it?
You should be able to buy a hotshoe adapter with a pc socket and direct the Metz PC cord to the hotshoe adapter. These are very common peices and can be purchased in most any camera store.

SB-600 Power Zoom stuck at 14mm

I struggled with this one but then, on the basis that if all else fails read the manual I found the answer. It's soooo simple. The wide-flash adapter is set. That's the little pull-out screen at the top of the flash which folds down over the flash-head. If it's pulled forward it activates the wide angle setting automatically. Push it back in and you'll be fine. tony k

I have just recently boughta Nikon D60 and currently own a Tamron 28-300 lens and a 90 macro lens. I think that I want to buy a strob after a workshop I went to this past weekend. I want to be able to...

The SB-600 will probably do everything you want.

One caution: To use flash off your D60 you're going to need either an external sync cord or a wireless controller. The SB-800 (and the current SB-900) can be used as a controller, the SB-600 can't. But the controller goes on the camera, so you'll end up needing two flashes.
