How to use the power switch of HL2170W to toggle the online status of the printer?

https://support.brother.com/g/b/producttop.aspx?c=ca&lang=en&prod=hl2170w_all

The power switch will turn the power off and clear the buffer, then when you turn it on again, it resets to it normal settings. Check the links above for more specific troubleshooting.

My printer brother HL2170W has toner, the toner light is not flashing but whet its prints it comes blank

This sounds like an issue with either the toner cartridge or the drum unit. Have either of these consumables been changed recently? This should help identify the likely cause.

If the drum has been changed recently I would recommend cleaning the corona wire. If however the toner has been changed there isn't masses I can recommend in terms of trouble shooting. it may however be worth running off 15-30 pages in the hope of pulling the toner through.

Failing this I would recommend calling Brother technical support in case the issue is hardware related and not the fault of a consumable.

BROTHER DCP7055 PRINTER SHOWS REPLACE TONER EROR

When replacing the toner cartridge, you MUST install a brand new, unused genuine Brother toner cartridge in order to reset the toner status. Swapping toner cartridges from one machine to another or installing a partially used toner cartridge may cause this problem. Brother machines control their image quality for the most suitable print quality by monitoring toner consumption. If you install a partially used toner cartridge, your Brother machine is unable to recognize toner consumption correctly which will cause this problem. Therefore, when you replace the toner cartridge, please use a brand new toner cartridge, not a partially used toner cartridge from another machine.

Bought a Brothers HL2170W. Came with a starter cartridge. Also bought a 2140 (same starter cartridge but not wireless). Used the 2170W till the toner light was on steady. Then tried to use the other...

Yeah, right. This may not apply, but if you look at the cartridge from the top, on the right side there's a sensor that knows how much toner is in the cartridge. It's a little optical hole like about 1/4-3/8 inch. If you put a piece of black tape over the hole, the printer thinks the cartridge is new :-)

Brother strongly recommends that customers use only genuine Brother drum units and/or toner cartridges. Each Brother laser printer is designed to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner formulations. Each individual component is designed to work with the other to ensure quality and reliability. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that is caused by the use of third party drum units, toner cartridges or toner.

1. Verify you installed a NEW, out of the box, genuine Brother toner cartridge (TN360/TN330).

If a toner cartridge from another machine was installed (even if there?s still toner left in the used cartridge) or a starter toner cartridge (included with the purchase of a machine) was installed, the Toner LED will stay on and the message "Toner Life End" would continue to appear on the display.

2. Verify the toner cartridge is installed correctly by following the steps listed below:

a. Open the front cover by pulling the tabs on the left and right side of the printer towards you.

b. Lift the drum unit slightly and pull it out. Place the drum unit on a piece of disposable paper or cloth to avoid spilling and scattering the toner.

c. Remove the toner cartridge from the drum by holding down the lock lever (blue tab) on the left side of the drum unit and lift the toner out. Handle the toner cartridge carefully. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, immediately wash it off with cold water.

d. Gently rock the toner cartridge from side to side five or six times to distribute the toner evenly inside the cartridge.

e. Place the toner cartridge into the drum (be sure it clicks into place).

f. Clean the primary corona wire inside the drum unit by gently sliding the blue tab on the top of the cartridge from right to left several times. Return the blue tab to the home position before reinstalling the drum unit assembly.

g. Reseat the drum unit into the printer pressing it in securely.

h. Close the front cover making sure it latches on both sides.

If the Toner LED is still on or the status monitor continues to display the message "Toner Life End" the printer will need service.

The printer has a one year limited exchange warranty. If the printer is in warranty, call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437) for warranty options.

If the printer is out of warranty, contact a Brother Authorized Service Center for repair by clicking on the link below:
