Sounds like this is something with info you need to keep..Keeping/securing/BACKING UP your data is your priority!! Personally, I would find a QUALITY (ASK a lot of questions.. can they guarantee their work,,- and NOT LOSE your data..!!) .. skip the geek squad - .. computer repair shop..(or some 10 year old).. I would first see if they could copy this drive to another drive (solid state) so you will not lose your data... we are at 4.0 with USB now... 2.0 is becoming the "floppy" of today..I have 3.0 drives and feel left out.. again.. securing/copying/backing up your data is paramount.. First I had to reseat one of the drives which had worked loose and become unseated during shipping. Then I had to format the hard drive and finally I had a 1TB external hard drive I could use. The light is still red.
