My Cavalry 1TB USB 2.0 external hard drive will not connect to my computer. I have not had it for long, possibly 2 months. It worked fine all day today but tonight the blue light does not turn on. It makes a sound like it's starting to get going but never does. I have 5 years of work stored on this drive so I am really needing to get it fixed. Thank you, Jeff

Hey Jeff,
Sounds like this is something with info you need to keep..Keeping/securing/BACKING UP your data is your priority!! Personally, I would find a QUALITY (ASK a lot of questions.. can they guarantee their work,,- and NOT LOSE your data..!!) .. skip the geek squad - .. computer repair shop..(or some 10 year old).. I would first see if they could copy this drive to another drive (solid state) so you will not lose your data... we are at 4.0 with USB now... 2.0 is becoming the "floppy" of today..I have 3.0 drives and feel left out.. again.. securing/copying/backing up your data is paramount.. Good luck,,,

SOURCE: computer does not recognize new 1TB ext HD

First I had to reseat one of the drives which had worked loose and become unseated during shipping. Then I had to format the hard drive and finally I had a 1TB external hard drive I could use. The light is still red.

Calvary 1TB USB 2Bay external hard drive problem

The problem could be the enclosure, not the drive.
I would take the drive out of the Calvary enclosure and install it in another one. Hopefully it will come up and you can access your data.

Need help recovering from a Steel Vine software mistake

well..maybe, and that is a major maybe..sometimes, with really good tools, some of that can be recovered, like when a hard drive crashes. assuming there was no other backup, this is problematic. I recommend you seek a really top flight computer person. This will cost a bundle though.

Broken Fan

You should be able to open up your external hard drive enclosure, find the right size fan, and order another one from almost any online store for cheap. You may even be able to go to some computer store nearby you and you may be able to get one there.
