If you have a reliable tv then you may have faulty av jacksor cables also the setting can be set as PAL in a NTSC environment in which you would have to go to a games store and get the device hard resetted to original settings

The problem is with the player, not the TV. You need a new DVD player.

Sound and picture jumping

This is probably because this camera records in HD format which will jump around when played on computers that are not very high performance. You need at least 2gb of RAM and a decent processor.

Otherwise, the codec is missing or old for playing the format.

The screen jumps around a bunch when i go to play games or dvds. sometimes while other things are playing also. not sure if its the resolution settings or what.

Sounds like either the PS3 is set to 1080p (52hm84 only does 1080i/720p) or you're ps3 is beginning to go. Try it on another HD screen or change to another input (HDMI --> component (RGB))

Jumping screen

If you have dropped the TV or it has been bumped significantly you may damaged part of the tv tube section where the electrons are beamed. Sounds like a damaged tube to me. If this occurs when you play a videocassette, you need to adjust the tracking of your videocassette player and the screen jumps will go away. I don't have that problem now, but on the bottom portion of the screen there is slight curvature distortion. In the late 1960's Sony TV's made the industry stand on its ear and could stop a shopper for clear across the showroom to take notice. Keep in mind our televisions are almost 20 years. It is "unheard" of for any tvs to last that long. Mine has lasted that long before developing the problem I posted on this e-bulletin board.
