Cannot install Singer PSW software on Windows 7

I also have an XL-6000, and I have the PSW 1.0 software. There is a patch for the 1.0 and 1.1 software for Win 7, as well as instructions. I would recommend that you join a Yahoo group called TeamSewAmused. It's dedicated to the XL-1000, XL-5000 and XL-6000, as well as the PSW 1.0 and 2.0 software, and they have LOADS of instructions in their Files section. Your software WILL run in Windows 7 and Windows 8 and 8.1.

Singer only provides patch up to XP

Make sure the proper patch is installed on your computer then try running the program in Compatibility Mode (Right click on program and select Troubleshoot Compatibility.

What version of Windows are you using? If it's a newer version (Vista, Windows 7 or 8, etc.) this might help: There is a feature in Windows 7 that allows you to run software made for previous versions of Windows. Go go Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features>Run software made for previous versions of Windows.

From the link above it only works with Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, ME or XP. If you want you can have two operating system in one hard drive. It is called dual booth but you have to re partition your hard drive.

There is no solution to this problem.........WINDOWS 7 drivers are not comparable with this software no matter how many or what cables you use......THE DRIVERS THAT COMES WITH THIS WINDOWS VERSION will NOOOOOOOOOT work with the conversion tool.......If Singer does not come up with a new software that the machine can work with,,,,you all better keep or buy an old compluter that has windows XP....is that simple...:(

We have found that the PSW works best on newer computers when the USB serial adapter cable has not only compatible drivers for the Windows operating system but also a FTDI chip. We have found this FTDI chip in the cable which is listed below:
CUSB-232A available from Computerplug.com and Cablesalesusa.com.
Any USB to serial adapter with an FTDI chip will work. These cables will work for Windows XP, VISTA, and 7.

Singer Co. told me they don't have updates yet for the XL6000

It's not clear whether v1.0 is compatible with Vista. Try the compatibility patch as described below.
