When emailing in yahoo.In the past I was able to type in the first couple of letters to the contacted persons contact address or name and i would give me the closest options to those letters or the correct contact name and email address. In the last week, this function is not working and I have to pull up the entire contact list to retrieve the correct email address. Is there a solution that would allow me to go back to what I had before.

To use Yahoo Messenger, you first need to download it. Here is the link to the latest version which is Yahoo Messenger 10:

If you want to use Chat Rooms, these are available on the US version of Yahoo Messenger 10. Just click on the US flag at the bottom of the download page.

Once downloaded, this is how you can add your contacts and friends:

Click on "Contacts" in the top of the "Messenger" window pane.

Click on "Add a Contact".

You will then see two options. Either you can add somebody from their Messenger ID or email address or you can choose a contact from your address book.

For each contact you add, click on "Next" to take you through the process. An invitation will then be sent to each one you have added. Their names will appear on your Messenger List with a message "Add Request Pending". This message will disappear when the invitation is accepted.

TO IM SOMEONE:

You right click on the contact that you want to IM and then click on " Instant Message". Another box will open up for you to type your message in. When you have finished typing your message, hit the "Send" button on the right of the box you are typing in.

If the person is showing as "online", he will get the message straight away. If the person if "offline", he will receive the message as soon as he signs into Yahoo Messenger.

To use email chat, you need to sign yourself in on your email page. Next to your username, you will see a status which may be set to "Offline" at the moment. Click on it and change your status to "Available".

first, save all the 20 email addresses in your contacts.
how to do it: 1. sign in to your yahoo account 2. in the middle left part of your email, click add contact 3. put all their email addresses together with their full name 4. now, instead of clicking new message or compose message, do directly to contacts and check all the email addresses of the 20 persons. then click send e-mail. you can also attached file if you want. hope this will help.

If you are using Yahoo Messenger simply open your Yahoo Messenger program, log in using your log in information. Then at the top of the screen it says "Contacts" click this option then choose add contact. Now you can enter people with either their screen name, email address, or phone number if they have it posted. The request will be sent and must be accepted by the other person to become friends.

If you are just trying to add contacts in your yahoo mail, just log in> go to mail> then contacts> then add contacts and enter their email address.

Hi, this seems to be an attempt by Yahoo to get more people to try their Beta version of the new Yahoo! Mail. In the standard mail, like you have, typing in the first letter or letters no longer brings up the contacts. You have to click the "To" button to select your contacts, or type in the whole email address.
But if you try the Yahoo! Mail Beta, you can still type in just the first letter and it will bring up the contacts with that letter, just like before. If not having that functionality is a major hassle, I'd advise switching to the Beta mail. (There is usually a link on the lower right side of your mail inbox somewhere.) If you don't like the Beta version, you can easily switch back to standard Yahoo! Mail.

Sounds like a hack.

Copy and paste your contacts to a Notepad document. Or, if it's easier, in Yahoo with your contacts open, press the PrtScr SysRec button, open a Word document, and paste. If you have lots of contacts, scroll down and repeat until you've copied them all somewhere outside of Yahoo mail.

Then delete all your contacts from Yahoo mail (you can restore them later).

Then change your Yahoo password to something that can't be easily hacked by a computer (i.e. not a name, and not a word in the dictionary). Ideally it should be something with letters and numbers. Initials and a date of birth work well, e.g. DaS180975 or something like that. Even better, intersperse the letters and numbers: D18a09S75.

That should put a stop to both the hacking and the unauthorised use of your contacts list. Give it a couple of weeks before you restore your contacts.

If that still doesn't fix it, you might need to get a new email account. With Gmail you can import email from a previous account, so that might be worth considering.

Open up the letter, (message), and at the top you will see "Forward", click on that, a new message box will open, (with the message attached), type in your Friends' address and send.

In order to start chating you will need first the email address of the person you wan to chat and that person must approve your request to add your email on his/her yahoo messenger..how?

Log in on your ym.
On the Contacts menu, located at the upper portion of your ym...select Add A Contact
On the Enter a Messenger ID or email address box, type the email address of the person you want to chat...then, click next
on the Choose or enter a Messenger List Group box, select a group(example: friends), then click next, then finish.
Once your friend approve your request, you will be reminded to allow that person to see you, just click next and finish..

That's it once the name of your friend appear on the list.. double click it..a small window will appear where you can both type the message and press the SEND button to send. hope you enjoy chatting.

Type for NAME (your user name), Address (full Yahoo email address), Password (your password), Description (do not type your yahoo email address, choose something different, like "My Yahoo Account")
The problem most likely is in the Description ... if you type your email address here, it may give the error that the server cannot connect. I changed mine to "My Account" and the server connected.

try to check your contacts.... the email you want to send To must be listed in your contacts ,to have its addresses automatically show up when you type up.
