I forgot my password. how can I change the password to access the wireless connection

If the default password on the D-Link has been changed then -
To reset the D-Link back to the default settings -
Press and hold the RESET button at the back of the router with the power ON until the LEDs flash at the time the release the RESET button. (firmware version was 3.00, and upgraded to 3.05) Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open the browser on your laptop/computer and enter the D-Link's configuration URL..

The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password.
You can now configure the wireless settings. (SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access). Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. Your laptop still insists on using the old password that's why it can't connect. Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Manage Wireless Networks. Select your router's SSID. Right click on it and change Properties > Security > Show characters. The old password that you forgot should appear. You may then change it to the latest one.

You may also click on the wifi signal icon on the lower right corner of your Taskbar, right click on the router's SSID, select Properties > Security > Show characters to reveal the old password you forgot and change it to the latest one.

Restart the router. Disconnect all your devices. If possible, delete or forgot connection of the Wi-Fi connection. Then connect it as new. Now it'll ask for Key/Password. Enter new password and connect.

To RESET the Netgear, power up the Netgear then press andhold the RESET button at the back of the router until all the LEDs flash.Connect a LAN cable from the Netgear to the LAN port on yourcomputer, open a browser and enter the Netgear configuration URL -

logon your ROUTER BY ENTERING IP IN BROWSER WITH ADMIN CREDENTIALS

OR IF YOU FORGOT PASSWORD THEN RESET IT BY RESET SWITCH TO FACTORY DEFAULTS

WHICH IS ON BACK SIDE OF ROUTER THEN CHANGE SETTING --SSID --WEP KEY
PUT A NEW KEY AND RECONNECT YOUR LAPTOP

If you cannot log into the 192.168.... address, you can reset the box by holding the reset button for 10 seconds (try the "admin" password first). If you reset the box, you have to re-setup everything for your wireless, but it is better than not being able to use it. There is a little red button you can access with a pencil,

log into router by typing 192.168.1.1 on the address line of Browser
Username blank
password admin
go to wireless settings and change the WPA key use an old phone number you can recall from memory
Save settings (If you are connected wireless, you'll be kicked off till you log in with the new WPA key)

To change any setting on the router , you will need to access the router set up.
Do you have any computer connected to the router with the cable ?
If not then you will need to connect computer to the router
Open the router set up and change the wireless settings

I DON'T HAVE NO IDEA HOW MANY PC IS CONNECT TO THIS NETGEAR ROUTER. IF YOU FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD OR SOMEONE CHANGE THE PASSWORD. YOU MAY RESET THE ROUTER TO FACTORY SETTING BY AT THE BACK OF THE ROUTER THIS A LITTLE HOLE A PAPER CLIP IS THE PERPECT TOOLS TO RESET IT. THE DEFAULT ID USER IS ADMIN AND THE PASSWORD IS PASSWORD. HOPE THAT THIS INFO WILL HELP YOU SOLVE THE FORGOT PASSWORD AND TO CONNECT TO WIRELESS PROBLEM.

Follow these steps:
1.Type 192.168.1.1 in Internet Explorer.
2.You might have to put Admin password to access the router which is usually admin and password field blank.
3.Go to wireless setting and change the password.
