I recently went online to play and now i get 'no signal' on my tv from the ps3.

You have a pre-owned system that was banned from online play.

Ok I have had this happen a few times before. What I do to fix it is disconnect the HDMI cable while everything is still on and playing and then re-insert the cable back into the TV. This re-configures the HDMI signal and should hopefully stop this problem.

I also just had this problem where it was working then not displaying on a TV (didn't matter if HDMI or Component or a different TV). I knew the system was still "working" by the controller being able to turn it off (got lucking on the power off sequence once). Anyway, I called the Sony help number (1-800-345-SONY) which told me to do a reset by holding down the power button till I heard a second beep. I was then able to see the PS3 interaction on the screen and reset it to the specific format for my TV.
Hope this helps cause I was also about ready to send it back.

did you recently change cables to the tv?

the ps3 is a lot like the xbox 360 should always lay flat and never stand them up or bad things happen, so try that and run a cd cleaner through it

If it's a setting on the PS3 then just hook it up to another T.V. set it back to default and hook it back up to your other T.V.

Yes, using a longer ethernet cord will work, but the PS3 has a bult-in WiFi card that can connect to any wireless router (you can buy a wireless router from a computer store like BestBuy).

If you are going to buy a wireless router, see if a wireless G-mimo or wireless N with signal boost is within your budget. Try looking through the network settings to see if you can connect through the wireless router.

Or just get a longer ethernet cord and run it directly to the PS3 from the router. Ethernet cords are the most reliable connection, granted you are on a good internet connection, they won't get interference from things like mobile phones, cordless phones, microwaves, TV's etc.
