Hi there

regarding that issue that you are having with the external monitor is not working with your sony vaio here are some steps that might help to have it working

connection between the monitor and laptop
- VGA ( blue adapter ) or DVI ( white adapter )
- check if the connected properly
- try to use a different VGA cable
- check if the monitor is detected by the computer
***please also do a monitor selftest on the external monitor***

- HDMI
- check if the tv is detected by the computer
- check the settings of the TV for the HDMI

hope this helps

My Sony VAIO VGN-AR290G laptop cannot view another external screen. Originally, I closed the laptop lid on my charger and cracked the screen. Now the screen just shows white. I connected VGA cable to...

Hummmm.... are you sure your cable is good? Can you try connecting with another cable?...

Check the cable CONNECTORS and be sure NO pins are pushed back into the molded body. All should pins should be quite 'flush' with the outer connector metal frame.

Does your display work if you connect your cable and monitor to another system?

Gee I'm trying to envision a LCD display and it's associated electronics AND your SVGA connector?... I mean I know they both process video, but they should be independent of each other?

I have a newer TOSHIBA that had a LCD so trashed it kept dumping junk from the display... So I cut the display hinges OFF and cut the supporting cables to it too... hoping for no shorts!

That system is still working GREAT ~ with a external monitor... and no Wi-Fi and sorry that does not really help you.

Anthony

Vgn-fs630w won't reboot and also when try with reboot disk it won't read...just continuous boot over and over again after "window loading" screen.

Sounds like you may have 2 problems, that is
1) corrupted windows installation or faulty Hard drive causing the constant reboot.
2) faulty CD drive or dirty laser or dirty disks.

You could try pressing F10 when you see the vaio logo which will take you to the HDD based recovery options.
Test your cd/dvd disks in another machine to make sure they are o.k if they are you can try cleaning laser in cd drive.
Or if the disks are o.k and your cd drive is faulty you could use an external usb cd drive and set the bios to boot from an external drive.

Sony vaio vgn-fs630/w. the ethernet port and usb ports not workin

Hi,
The best thing you can try is a Static discharge.
Please remove all the external devices. Unplug the power adaptor.Remove the battery. There should be no electricity connected.
Then press the power button and keep your finger on it for about 30 seconds to release any build up electricity.
Plug in the adaptor and battery again and see if there is still a problem.
Maybe is a good idea to get a surge protector in the future.
