Yes, it has the function to do so. Some VHS may be protected but the vast majority will be fine. Look into the manual that comes with it or post a comment and we can post one.

How to record dvd from vhs

There are some units that can do this, but if you are trying to copy commercially recorded VHS movies to DVD you will have issues. The VHS tapes have copy protection on them and all manufactured hardware to record these have been required by law to support the protection. Thus, you will get poor copy reproduction when copying. If they are home-movie style VHS tapes, no such issues exist. You can either get a unit that has both devices integrated and has copy capability, or you can you a VHS player and send the outputs to a DVD recorder.

Daewoo DVD-T "copy not possible - this media cannot be copied" when trying to copy from VHS (tape is not copy protected) to blank DVD-R and +R media. Same problem with all DVDs and VHS tapes

You can only copy non-commercial VHS tapes that you have recorded yourself to DVD. You can\'t make copies of most commercially made VHS movies due to copy-protection.

Will a VHS from America play in my LG V181 video/DVD player

Hi
All American VHS recordings will be in NTSC system. If your player is compactable with NTSC system, you can play the VHS in your system. If it has no NTSC syste, the tape will play, but colour problems and vertical rolling will occur. OK.

I have a Toshiba DVD/VCR combo and I want to know if i can record a VHS onto a blank DVD disc ?

It all depends on the model of DVD/VCR Combo and what VHS you want to copy.

Pre Recorded VHS are copyright protected so the system won't let you copy them.

I cannot copy commercially recorded VHS tapes to DVD. Msg comes up saying it is COPY PROTECTED. Heard that if for personal use only I am permitted to copy tapes. Any way around this?

No,this can be done only copyright materials through the VHS box converter run through a computer with a programs call copy decoders programs.Than u can copy VHS copy protected matrials.Than u reburn it back to DVD disc.So this require alot of work, time and money so not worth it to copy commercially VHS tapes to DVD Disc.

Cannot copy my copy protected vhs videos on my samsung dvd recorder dvd-SH893M!! how can this be done?

Buy a 'VICE 1000' hardware unit, which overrides copyright protection, both on DVD and VHS. Connect between player and hard-drive on DVD recorder.
Google suppliers. Thoroughly, and utterly illegal and carries heavy penalties, for breaches of copyright.

Are you trying to copy a comercial VHS tape to DVD?
If you are then macrovision copy protection system on either the tape or in the machine is the reason for the loss of colour.
There's not a lot you can do about it. If you want to copy commercial material you will need to transfer it to a computer and get a program to do it. But unless it's unavailable it is cheaper to buy the DVD version I have found and you will get better picture and sound too!
If it does it with a none comercial tape (ie something recorded of the TV). Then it could be a head fault or something else. In which case try cleaning all the heads guides etc first.

HOW DO I RECORD A DVD TO A VHS ON A VHS DVD COMBO BY PHILIPS

Cannot do this on a combo unit. There is a chip that senses copy protection and prevents recording a copy-protected DVD to a VHS and vice-versa. Solution: Use an outboard DVD player or an outboard VHS VCR and try the recording with the video routed through a "stabilizer" box. The stabilizer (about $30 or less on Ebay) defeats the copy protection on MOST DVDs, but not all. It works with Netflix DVDs. Route the audio as usual. Audio is not protected.

VHS to DVD

I just bought at Best Buy the Samsung DVD Recorder & VCR. You can copy your VHS tapes right to DVD and or hook up an external source into the deck and copy them to DVD.  I find it working well but many of my tapes have tracking issues which is becoming a hurdle for myself.
