I purchased a telecom U3100 phone over the weekend and I can't find the setting for the silent alert for text messaging. The manual for this phone is VERY disappointing. Thanks Ben

Your phone is probably on silent or you havent selected a tone for your text messages. Go to your tones,select a particular ringtone you want to use for your text mesages select "options" and select ''set as message alert tone" and select ok.

Nokia phones call them "profiles" , a set of preset modes where you can have different volume levels and tones for different occasions i.e General, meeting, loud, silent etc. I was suggesting trying a different preset mode If available to see if it worked for you.

Setting Message Alerts from page 52 in your manual:
When new messages arrive, you can choose to have your
phone notify you by playing an audible alert. To hear an alert when you receive a new message:
1. Press Menu > Settings/Tools > Settings > Messaging >
Message Reminder.
2. Select On or Off and press .

u can cancel it either going into the settings or in message settings

go to menu > messages > settings > text messages and uncheck delivery report. good luck.

Go into the main menu
Sound settings or Alert Settings
There will be an option for alerts (text messages) you can then change it.

Try restoring the factory settings of your phone!

Go to : SETTINGS then FACTORY SETTINGS.. security code: just type 12345.

If still there is no tone alert, then im sure there is a problem with your phone's buzzer, or it might need to clean the contact of the buzzer insice the board. Just try this....

After you read a message, always hit the return/back key to get you back to the main list of messages. This phone automatically returns you to wherever you left off last, so if you don't hit the return key, your last message read will be what is displayed when you hit your message key.

No, your phone is not defective, you need to change your settings.

In your menu, go to SETTINGS, then PROFILES. Scroll to the profile you are using then select EDIT. Under each profile you have the option to select how your phone handles any alert you receive (i.e. for calls, messages, texts, etc.) You have several options some of which are silent, silent and vibrate, vibrate only.

Personally I want my phone to vibrate when it's on silent so that I know I'm receiving a call or text. You can choose another option though.

Go to profiles and select the silent menu and click personalize option..now select the incoming text message option and select no sound..Thank you!!..regards!!..

do a master reset on the phone , then applying the silent tone again
