First disconnect one wire at a time, making sure the power is off. then connect power and check to see if your speakers are making the popping sound. when you do your speakers, make sure you disconnect both positive and negitive of each speaker at one time. when your amp goes out of protect mode you will have found your suspect wire. then trace to the issue. it could be as simple as crossed over possitive and negitive wires

My jvc stereo is stuck on protected and it won't change the radio station off protected

Radios that are in "protected" mode often indicate a short in a speaker wire or a really bad speaker. Disconnect all eight speaker wires: white, white/black, gray, gray/black, green, green-black, violet, and violet/black. Turn on the radio and see if it still shows "protected". If it does, the radio is defective. If not, connect each pair of speakers back one at a time and see if it goes into protected mode. The one that causes it is the bad wire/speaker.

I am installing a kenwood cd receiver kdc-mp205 every thing is hooked up but the screen says protect wat is the problem?

Hello.. sorry to hear you are having problems. With the Kenwood car stereos, when they detect a bad speaker in the car, they go into protect mode to keep from burning up the outputs of the stereo. Either you have a bad speaker in the car or a speaker wire that is touching metal (grounded out). You can cut all of the speaker wires loose at the radio and reset the radio. Then turn the radio on and hook each speaker up one at a time until it goes into protect and that will let you know where your problem is located. Hope this helps and good luck with your venture!

In radio mode, all speakers do not work

Radio will default to 2 channel stereo. You will need to use one of the soundfield processing modes to expand. Try using surround mode button to get to 6 channel or pro-logic.

I need help getting back a product from warrenty. I sent in an amplifier from Logic Soundlab to their address on their warrenty card. I have UPS confirmation of delivery in July. I cannot get ahold of...

maybe the return address is an outsourced repair shop that has gone bust
contact the manufacturer headquarters and make a lot of noise about the service and ask for a new unit under warranty

Amp is on but no sound.....also amp stays on when car is turned off

sound is more like a speaker conection problem. than your amp. check your speaker connections first. to make sure they are plugged in all the way. and fit tight on the speaker. it they are . and it is still cutting out. you may need to trace the speaker wires. and see if they are getting pinched in the door jam. that is a usual culprit for speakers cutting out.

The low input plug on my logic soundlab cpx1820 is broken.

Hello lucky33irish,

If it is just the plug that is broken, it's a rather easy fix. Just solder on a new plug. Look closely at the old one to make sure that you match up the wires correctly. You can get replacement plugs at Radio Shack or try this web site. I like the Switchcraft 3502. It's very durable and easy to work with.

A better fix would be to replace the cables with a new set of RCA's.

If the pin from the old plug is broken off inside the jack, you'll need to remove it. I usually start with a scratch awl and gently pry the old pin backwards until I can get ahold of it with a pair of needle nose pliers. Just be careful that you don't push it in deeper.

Anyway, hope this helps.

Stuck in protect mode

Speakers shorted out, blew a fuse. Replace the unit or (cross your fingers and) open up the box and find the blown fuse.
