This really works well to break down grease. Get a large pot that is ALL Metal! No plastic handles etc. Fill the pot with water and add vinegar. (Two parts water to one part vinegar) Turn the oven as high as it will go and allow the water/vinegar to steam. Keep an eye on the pot as not to boil out all of the water. Repeat as necessary. Hope this helps.

Blodgett conv oven heating

a couple of things to check--are you baking more product than usual at one time?does your oven have a load control dial?if so the dial could be set wrong or inoperative.if your baking to much product than normally the excess moisture could cause this.has any electrical work been done to the oven or its power line.is the fan running clockwise?when you look at the fan do you see a tube in front of it?if so check for a blockage (tinfoil).lastly you could have a bad heating element.

Bake and broiler element come on when bake is selected. Why?

Understand that I am not a professional, so this answer is subject to revision by someone who is more knowledgeable.

Where I live now I'm on Natural Gas, but in the past I've had electric stove/ovens. Based on my best recall the situation you describe is NOT abnormal.

When in the Broil mode, the Bake element is NOT on, but the Broil element is on FULL-bore to provide that strong radiant heat required for the Broiling process, AND for the good browning /crusting of the product being Broiled!!!!!

On the other hand, when Baking, not broiling, IF the Broiling element were on high it would provide too much radiant heat to the top of the product being Baked, and would burn the top.

While Baking, by energizing the Broil element in a lower power setting, the Baking process is enhanced with more heat by the assistance of the Broiler element, BUT without the hazard of burning on the top!!!!!

Hope this is right and helps your understanding.

Cant loosen screws to baking element

This sometimes happens when either rust or baked on grease or both will make the screws very difficult to remove. If you have a flat blade screwdriver a sharp blow sideways to the screw with a screwdriver or chisel with a hammer will often break the rust. this has worked for me many times. Just be careful.

I dont want to use the self clean but I cant get off the baked on grease. What can I use?

Go to the hardware store and get scotchbrite pads that are medium in coarseness. The rougher the better, but not so rough as to scratch the finish. Use powdered laundry detergent to clean on a damp scotchbright pad. Spray oven cleaner works well but has a lot of fumes and is not as kind to hands.
Thanks

The heating element becomes red hot,but the food doesn't appear to cook in an appropriate time os fashion. Any answers or suggestions

The top of whatever food you're cooking should be in the center of the oven for the most effective cooking. Do you have the oven set on bake or broil? Broil is a direct heat method and if the food is on the lower shelf and the oven is set on broil, the food is not getting enough heat to cook it properly. Baking heats the lower element and the heat rises to surround the food. Broiling heats the top element and since heat rises, it is not getting down to the food to surround it and cook it.

How do I clean the inside of the door window of my self-cleaning oven?

umm. there will always be some assemblence of grease on the door glass, if its on the inner most panel and you can scrub it off, then i would reccomned using a razor blade lying flat to scrape it off, however if it has developed within the panel(s) of glass then the only remedy is to dissassmeble the door and glean them that way.. there was some conflict as to the age of your machine in your description, you say "3-hour cycle for the first use late last spring, if I remember correctly--whatever the directions said to do for the first time, a 4-hour cycle after Thanksgiving last fall and a 3-hour cycle for the second cleaning a couple of days ago since it wasn't very dirty"" so i cant be a mont old??? reason i say is that is the unit you purchased probably come with a pretty kickin warr and the manufacture will want ot make good on your issue if you cant resolve it, betterchance though if only 1 month not 11
