I am purchasing a used Miele KM5656 cooktop and need to remove it from the existing owner's coutnertops. After reading the manual, it says that I need a "special tool" to get the cooktop out from the clips that hold it in place. Any suggestions?

The oven either has a pilot light to be lit before the oven will work or you need to light the burner each time you use it. Check your owner's manual or find the owner's manual on line and read it!
If you have an illuminated red key symbol on the cooktop, press down where the illuminated red key is, for about 5 seconds. This method works on many Schott Ceran / Miele cooktops including the KM443 listed above.
If this doesn't work, please let me know the correct model number.
you can only purchase Miele parts from Miele and no one else other than authorized Miele service agents and it is the same price. you would also have to call them as parts are not on line
http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SSPartDetail.aspx?PartID=1048620&PPStack=1 try this link. do not drill out the jets they will not work properly. I would check all your documentation you may have the convention kit with your owners manual or it may be attached to the oven.
Contact Miele directly via their website. This would require an orifice change if it is possible for this appliance. Since natural gas, butane, and propane are all forms of LP (Liquified Petroleum), it is usually, but not always, possible.
