clean the basket-filter-screening of your Singer Juice Giant Model 774:
First, unplug the juicer from the power source and disassemble it.
Remove the pulp container and the juice jug.
Locate the basket-filter-screening and gently twist it counterclockwise to remove it from the juicer.
Rinse the basket-filter-screening under running water to remove any pulp or debris.
Use a soft-bristled brush to scrub away any remaining residue.
Rinse the basket-filter-screening again and dry it with a clean towel.
Reassemble the juicer.
If you need more detailed instructions, you can refer to the manual for your product
Assuming you are dropping down the metal arm, removing the plunger and the rear pulp collector: everything unscrews from there. Hope you did this immediately following the juicing as it gets sticky and can be hard to open if you waited until it dried. When you get to the screen, it opens with a red tool they provide to unscrew it. Hope this helps.
rinse out the lid, food pusher and base(that the mesh filter sits in).
scrub out the mesh filter with a dish brush or the included brush if you have it. be carefull the grater-like parts at the base are very sharp. make sure it's clean by holding it up to the light. if there are any particles left clinging to the mesh it will seriously interfere with the effectiveness of your juicing.
you can line the pulp collecting jug with a plastic bag so that you dont have to clean that out as well.
it's best to clean everything immediately. if for some reason you can't, at least rinse the plastic parts and leave the mesh basket to soak until you can get back to it.
if you have any dried food or staining on any of the parts then a soak in water with lemon juice in it (maybe the juice of 3 or 4 lemons) should help soften up particles and strip away stains.
Move from side to side and jiggle the whole assembly .. including the juice collector and juicing basket. With patience and even a break between attempts it will finally dislodge itself and lift up and off.
Just juiced carrots and a couple apples .. mmmm good ;-) best of luck
the blade can be removed possibly with your hands, if you can manage to turn it, if not then find something that will fit into those little holes of the blade to turn it, and then take it apart, but remember in what order. to put it together: the grey thing with the spout attached goes on first, then the orange basket, then the blade, but don't turn it too tight, just look for the indicator marks and line them up with the arrows, then the black lid, and then the pulp basket.make sure that the black lid in the back, goes INTO the pulp collector, it is not very far, but if it is not done like this, then your machine will not work. then you raise and lock the bar into place and put the pusher into the feeding tube. hope that helps.
Generally you will have good luck with this item - however after using
it for a while here is the problem people are stating in other reviews.
You cannot get the basket our for cleaning. Unfortunately there are no
instructions or troubleshooting or anything on the manufacturer's
website for fixing this..
Here's the problem...There are 3 little captured balls on the basket
that engage into holes into the juicer to hold it into place when you
load it. The problem is that over time - the balls get juice in them.
Then you store the thing with the basket locked into the juicer. Then
from sitting in your cupboard - the juice dries and the balls are stuck.
When they get very sticky they do not float in their cavity they are
stuck. Then after you juice the next time - you cannot get basket off.
basket is stuck and you will destroy the juicer if you try to pry it out
with excessive force.
If you have this problem and you are lucky enough to be reading this - I have figured out the fix on my own...
You need to fill up a large tupperware, rubbermaid, whatever - bowl
about 3 inches deep with hot water. Then take the juicer with the clear
cover off and flip it upside down and into the hot water. Make sure the
water is covering the entire basket area, but not so deep it goes into
the motor area. I let it soak for about 3 hours, but I don't think you
will need to do it for that long. When I took it out of the water I was
able to pry the basket out with very little force. This is when I
discovered this flawed design with the balls.
Now I rinse the little ball bearings really good after using and dont store it connected. Then before connecting the basket to the juicer rinse the little bearings and push them in to make sure they are freed up before each use.
I used it probably for a year or so about 40 or 50 times without
this issue, but let it sit for about 4 months - which is why I believe
it caused these balls with juice in them to get so frozen I couldn't
remove it.
Good luck. It worked for me.. this should work for you!
