Downdraft Hello, I have had my Jennair range for 8 years and never thought to ask this question until now. Winters here in Indiana are windy and cold and the cold air comes up out of my downdraft of my Jennair. I am surprised there isn't a feature that will allow you to open and close the draft. I typically place a cloth on top of the draft to keep the cold air out. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Thanks, Stephanie [email protected]

I have my 2nd JennAir range. This one is 10 years old. It is as cold
and leaky as the 1st. We live in Wi. So, really cold here too. I liked
my 1st one. All elec. Grill was like outside grill taste. The
2nd, I had a repair man here 6 times in 6 months. Wouldn't heat enough
to sear the steaks. They all said that it is hooked up correctly, draft
is correct, but btu's aren't enough to cook properly on the grill. I
can tell you that I have run across several people that were looking at
this range. I discouraged them with my problems. I will never buy
another. I also have a JennAir refrig. Will not have another of those
    again either.

Don't know the answer to these problem appliances. Some of these companies don't want to stand behind them either. Lemons

I would double check that the installer used the correct vent hood outside. The correct one has a spring that keeps the outdoor flap closed when not in use. Cleaning the outdoor flap area may also help it seal a little better. Even if the right hood was installed, you might check to see there is a spring present (or signs that there was one.

I have never had air blow out the downdraft, but I do feel cold travel to the fan unit which makes the floor cold in front of the range.

Can I remove the downdraft equipment under my jennair electric cooktop and still use my cooktop?

It is possible to remove the downdraft equipment from underneath your JennAir electric cooktop and still use the cooktop, but it depends on how the downdraft equipment is attached to the cooktop and whether there are any other issues that may arise from removing it.
Before attempting to remove the downdraft equipment, you should consult the user manual or contact JennAir customer service to ensure that it is safe to do so and to obtain any specific instructions for your particular model.
Some potential issues to consider when removing the downdraft equipment include:
  1. Airflow: The downdraft equipment is designed to help draw smoke, steam, and odors down and out of the kitchen. Without it, you may experience reduced airflow and ventilation, which could result in lingering odors or smoke.
  2. Heat distribution: The downdraft equipment may also help distribute heat evenly across the cooktop surface. Without it, you may experience hot spots or uneven cooking.
  3. Stability: The downdraft equipment may provide additional support or stability to the cooktop. If it is removed, the cooktop may become less stable or secure.
If you decide to proceed with removing the downdraft equipment, it's important to follow all instructions carefully and to take appropriate safety precautions. You should also be prepared to address any issues that may arise as a result of the removal, such as by using an alternative ventilation system or adjusting your cooking techniques to compensate for any changes in heat distribution.
If you're unsure about whether or how to remove the downdraft equipment from your JennAir electric cooktop, it's best to consult with a professional technician or contact JennAir customer service for guidance.

Pilot light on Intertherm MG 075A furnace will not stay lite on windy days. Worked fine for 20 years but has been a problem the last couple of winters. thermocoupler has been replaced a couple of ti

If this really is a thermocouple unit with a standing pilot, it must be pre 1978, I would suspect a crack in the exchanger first off as thats potentially lethal, not a joke, many heart attacks, headaches, fibromyalgia etc comes from undiagosed carbon monoxide exposures!
And many die from it sadly as it is 100% preventable, a detector would be advised even if you are ok there. A draft can be from the roof car ruting out or misssing? any dryer, Jennair, bath fan, water heater, stove top and many hvac systems create negative pressure in the home by exhausting air and not returning any or less than removed, as in a leaky supply duct leaking in the attic, the furnace pulls X cfm and returns Z
and fireplaces etc will backdraft. gas valves do get tired too.

I wanted to know how many Jennair downdraft electric ranges were out in 2000, with a sealed 2 unit burner and a grill and are there still replaceable plug in units for them?

Modules are still available for some models but you need the model and serial numbers of the range to find out what is available to fit it. The customer service number for Jenn-air is
800-536-6847. You might call a local appliance store if they carry Jenn-air products.

We're buying a JES9900BAF for an island and found ducting instructions in the installation guide. Go to jennair.com and find the page for your range model. Then click on the "Specs/Literature" tab (it's about 2/3 down the page). The installation guide is a PDF document.
