Hi,
I have inherited a Toshiba Satellite notebook A30, runningwindows XP Home Edition and using a Pentium 4 processor.
It has the WPC54G wireless adaptor with it, but I cannot get it to connect to my internet connection unless I use the ethernet cable.
Please be aware that I do not have recovery disks or instructions for either the notebook or adaptor.
Can you help me, please?
Hi,
A couple of ideas:
1. Download and run "NetStumbler" This is to determine if the Linksys WPC54G is working, the drivers are installed and if your Wireless AP/Router could be detected;
2. Use static IP Add temporarily on your Toshiba Satellite notebook A30 following the specified IP Add from your router;
3. Verify that your AP/Router is not using WEP,WPA or MAC filter.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back with make & model of your WiFi AP/Router, how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
Hello sir
thanks for ur inquiry
to connect to a newtork , use a dial-up connection, have your network administrator
configure your computer for the network and supply you with
the telephone number for the dial-up connection. To set up
the network connection, use the Dial-Up Networking Wizard:
1 Click Start and point to All Programs.
2 Point to Accessories, then to Communications.
3 Click Network Setup Wizard or Network
Connections.
4 Enter the phone number of your network connection and
let the program dial the number.
The computer connects with the network
Install the adapter, downloaad the latest drivers from linksys.com and then open the properties of the wireless adapter.
Next open the settings screen of your wireless access point. make sure that all settings match, such as channel, encryption type/level, everything. then try connecting again.
If you do not know how to get to your wireless acces point's settings tab, browse to the manufacturer's website and download the manual. That should give you enough information to enable you to get your wireless up and running.
Download the driver from this site it will work fine....

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I had already downloaded the driver for the wireless adaptor. The device manager says that it is working OK, although the link light on the adaptor only flashes intermittently.
