Question about Nostalgia Electrics Helman Group CCP-509 Popcorn Maker
I have a Popcorn machine from Nostalgia too that had this problem. I cleaned it out and everything but it still had the problem of the it getting stuck. After days of analizing, I found the solution. after a while the ceiling of the popcorn machine starts to fall in, lowering the handles of where the kettle goes. making the knob that turns being lower that the one that makes it turn, causing it to get stuck, all I did is add so leverage so the kettle is once again at the same level or higher. Making it turn with greater force and not getting stuck. In other words make sure the turning mechanism is leveled and not one lower than the other. preferably the kettle part being higher.

We have a Nostalgia Popcorn Popper and after about 11 months of use, the popcorn started getting stuck inside the kettle. I emailed the company and was given a check list of things to do: tighten all screws, make sure kettle is level...etc. After exhausting the list without fixing the problem, I took apart my machine and put it back together piece by piece. What FINALLY fixed the problem is the realignment of the COGWHEELS. There are two cog wheels on the machine one coming down from the top and one on the spindle of the kettle. These need to make a full connection (ours were off with only about 1/3 wheels touching). To readjust: Locate the collar at the base of the spindle above the lid of the kettle, loosen the allen nut and push down on the spindle until the cogs are aligned then tighten the allen nut. Now open the kettle to loosen the lower collar and pull it up tight against the bottom of the kettle lid and tighten. Turn on your machine and let it run - watch to see if the cogwheels stay aligned. If they do - then happy popping - if they shift repeat the procedure and make sure the LOWER collar is tightened. Also refrain from putting anything heavy on the top of your machine as there is a small fan on top of the motor that turns the spindle. Hope this works for you!!

My popcorn machine did the same thing. Then when I used my sisters machine which worked fine theirs clogged up also. I saw the date on the popcorn and it was old popcorn and also tasted a little old and was soggy . I bought new popcorn preferably to me the white corn because it's lighter and fluffier smaller cernals . And all was well the popcorn popper good on both machines . Hope my advice helps for you too.

Popcorn popper is approximately three weeks old and now the popcorn clogs up in the hopper (cooker pot), the gear quits turning, and we have to pry the popcorn out. It worked perfectly when we first got it and now it is nothing but a pain to use. We tried several popcorns, cooking oils and amounts of oils, but the problem continues. I noticed the small spring located on the lower shaft doesn't cover the entire shaft. Is it supposed to be longer? Your prompt reply for a solution would be greatly appreciated or we will have to return the unit to our local retailer where we purchased it.
