The laser pickup assembly is at the end of life, remove top to expose the laser lens, use a Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol and gently clean, allow several minutes to dry, if no change! far cheaper to replace the cd changer.
incompatibility is the cause of the problem. There is nothing wrong with both your player and the computer made CD's, they are not just clicking with each other.
The Pioneer PD-M403 player is also an old model, this could cause the problem.
There is not settings whatsoever that you can use ti solve this problem.
Check to see if the laser lens is still on the laser!
If not see if its in unit and glue back on with radio/tv cement(don't super glue)! If don't work replace the laser.
