The cashdrawer is SERIAL, you'll need to connect it to a COM port. The
software you're using has to be capable of sending data to the COM port
the cashdrawer is connected to when the cashdrawer needs to be opened.
From the site you mentioned:
Be sure drawer lock is not engaged.
Exit your system to a DOS prompt. Type the following commands (substitute
the correct com port for com1):
c:\>mode com1:300,n,8,1
c:\>echo "000000000000000000000">com1
The cash drawer should open.
About the cashdrawer RJ11 connection on the printer: You can connect any
solenoid driven cashdrawer to this port. The port uses pin 2 and 4 for
the voltage output, which is normally 24V on Epson receipt printers.
Sending a specific ESC character (every POS software should be capable of
doing this) to the printer will be recognized by the printer and the
printer puts 24V on the 2 pins mentioned for 300ms and voila, the drawer
opens.

We use an Epson- Receipt-Printer-driven Cash Drawer. When our staff use the No Salefunction to open the cash drawer, a short, empty receipt is printed. ... Instead, can Cashfootprint be enhanced to just send the Drawer Open command to the Receipt Printer?
The cash drawer is loking for a signal from the printer to fire the drawer. It is usually on one of the pins of the cable comming from the printer. You will probably have to contact the cash drawer manufacture for that information.
You can contact Southeast Digital Networks, Inc. for more info.
Hi!
Are you using the Epson TM-T90 driver? When you go to printer settings through Printers and Faxes there is an option to Open Drawer after or at the Beginning of the transaction.
One other way to check if you have the correct commands for it is by checking on printers Manual and Technical documents of it where you can get online. Click HERE. Register and wait for an Email for Username and password.
Hope this helps.
You must be sure the voltage to the cash drawer and the printer are correct. A 24 volt RJ12 printre connection to the solenoid of a 12 volt cash drawer will cause damage. If the drawer was working and stopped, it is possible the solenoid may be the problem.
From the computer (application to be exact), you send a signal to the printer to kick the drawer open but is there a confirmation signal from the printer going back to the computer that it successfully opened the drawer (not just successfully carried-out the command) ?
