Yesterday i played a DVD in my DVD writer,and suddenly stopped the playing. Then I got the DVD out and insert again.but it did not worked.Now when a DVD insert,the LED bulb in the writer is continuously pulsing(on-off) and indicating about insertion the DVD by popping up a CD icon near the mouse point.Also hear a sound inside the DVD writer that the DVD try to rotate.Also When boot from the DVD writer using windows XP CD.The prompt indicate boot from CD and stopped. Are you sure yours is a DVD player? It could only be a CD-CD writer, which will NOT play DVDs.
Open your control panel ->system->hardware->device manager and click on the DVD/CD-ROM drives icon. The listed devices will tell you if you really have a dvd player or not. If you do really have a dvd player, try a different dvd
On the back of a CD-writer or a DVD-writer is a small grid (2 rows) of gold pins.
Each vertical set of pins is labelled: MA(ster), SL(ave), and C(able)S(elect).
Be sure that one drive has a small jumper between the MA pins,
and the other drive has a small jumper between the SL pins.
Was there any software on CD-ROM that came with the DVD-writer,
e.g., software to play DVDs, and software to write CDs and DVDs?
To "play" a DVD, you'll need that software.
To "play" a music CD, Windows Media Player will suffice.
installed POWERDVD program into your system unit and put the homemade video again and click on the powerdvd icon and click play button on it and it would start playing.
the drive is not recognizing any dvd. this happens when you insert dvd into cd drive. if this happens with dvd drive its factory malfunction probably so if you can-replace it
Thats bad..Did you try another disc? If this happens even with a different disc. You will need to get a lens cleaner(costs about 5$) and try cleaning the lens. If it still doesn't work then you will have to replace the lens. The reason why it died suddenly is probably because the lens circuitry somehow got shorted. Try cleaning and if not.. replace.
