Samsung SyncMaster 193P 19" LCD Monitor Logo

When I booted up my PC 4 days ago, my Symcmaster 193P monitor started immediately blinking continuously and very fast; it did so on the POST screen and went on after booting in Windows too. It stopped and went back to normal after 20 minutes or so. It stayed normal up until I shutdown my PC, some 16 hours later. The following morning, I booted up my PC, again the same problem. Except that blinking was even faster this time (I'd say 5-10 times a second) and it took longer, almost an hour to return to normal. I did the obvious tests: connected another monitor to my PC, connected the malfunctioning one to another PC. Everything was fine in the former situation, the problem was there with the second PC, in the latter. So, it's not a graphics card problem, it's the monitor. I decided to leave my PC on overnight, the monitor went functioning just fine for over 48 hours. I switched the PC, got it working again a couple of hours ago, blinking is here to stay even faster and for two hours it hasn't stopped, My eyes are aching now that I'm writing this. There's only an ON/OFF button on the monitor, and it goes OFF itself when no input is detected, so I can't try to keep it ON, let's say. I'm wondering what I should do. Is it fixable or dead? Could it just be some capacitor that needs replacement? What should I look for?

Hi there,

Yes i do agree with you there is no problem with a graphic card, and i suspected it to be a problem with the cable which is used for connecting but it was fine when you swapped the monitors however i would still suspect on the slot where the cable is connected, may be you should try samsung service center before you decide.

Post back for more solutions we will be happy to help you.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!!!!

No image 0n screen

Do a Cold-Start, remove any media, DVDs, CDs, USBs, printer cables, etc, unplug, remove battery, leave out during this process, plug in push on/off button, immediately start tapping ctrl+F-11 repeatedly until you get a beep or open the restor/recovery. restore to a date before this issue. You say "Boot up computer", does it boot?, HDD led blinks?, sound? Is there a "ghost image" in monitor under a very bright light? Has the laptop been damaged, dropped, jarred........etc? There is a tiny switch the turns the monitor on and off when you open and close the lid. It can get stuck. respod to this post for further assistance.

Samsung SyncMaster 193P, screen completely dead. Small blue power light comes on.

Same problem with my samsung 193p.only i got no picture in a background even when i was using flash lite. These procedure helped me.
Quote:
"I just finished fixing my Samsung 193p LCD with similar problem. The problem was a black/blank screen as if it was off. But if you are going to use a bright flash light there was data in it. So I suspect it was the inverter.
Procedures made.
1. Disconnect the power adapter and the D-sub cable.
2. Remove the small philip screws at the back of the LCD and remove the cover.
3. Remove 4 philip screws.
4. Disconnect the 2 data cables.
5. Openning the white cover is tricky. Use a flat screw driver and press it at the bottom middle part and use a credit card and pry from the middle part going to left or right side.
6. Remove the philip screws (black) around the LCD.
7. Remove the 4 philip screws and 4 at the middle part.
8. Be careful removing the switch cable. It is very fragile one of the 4 wires might come out (I did but fix it).
9. The Inverter board is at the left side. Take and remove the 4 inverter cables and the white wide cable.
10. This is another tricky part. Near the white cable there is a FUSE (brown in color). Check if it is open. If yes, You can use 2 think wires and solder on both ends. (Be careful the size of the fuse is soooo small like a half grain of rice). Or if you have a car fuse you can also use it.
11. Resolder the 6 terminals of the each transformer. There are 2 transformer so 12 terminals in all.
12. Assemble the parts back and you are done.

Good Luck. Happy fixing.

Monitor won't come back from "sleep" setting.

Yes it can be, try it on other PC first to narrow down the problem.
Most problems in the Dell are failed transistors, poor solder works, see pictures here for guide: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Black screen and a blinking green led..

Have you tried booting the machine into safe mode? turn off the pc and try inserting a rescue boot disc to see if it will go that route.

When monitor power button is pressed, a small white image appears and alternates briefly between an alalog and digital icon in black then the screen goes blank, no color.

My issue is similar.. however after trying a couple of times it will work. (yes everything is plugged in) It will function for a good 10 minutes before just powering off (blackout) screen.
If you attempt to turn it on after it blacking out, the blue led for the power button will blink a couple of times and it will remain off.
However if you wait 5-10 minutes and turn it back on, it will repeat itself...

I have it hooked up to a radeon X1650 graphics controller as a secondary digital controller, and its hooked up by VGA cable.

I also have two other displays besides this one (one primary and extended that dont have any issues whatsoever.. they continue to function while the syncmaster 193p takes its time snoozing.... please help.

No Display on my Samsung 204B monitor

If you know how to open it up and get to the power supply you will find three capacitors 2-820uf and 1-330 @ 25vdc 105o.they will have puffed up tops replace them. FYI the monitor has a 3 year warranty.

PC or monitor, signal problems

your monitor is telling you it's on it's last legs..either that or your compaq has a bad video section. either is more vital than a video cable being loose.

Black Out

Hi Detrix, Check with www.lcdrepair.net if you want a repair. Something is wrong with your LCD controller and or GUI interface circuit or the circuit supplying power to it. If your technically endowed, you may want to open the monitor case and clean the dust and lint from around the circuits using a Small paint brush to sweep away any built up dust. These circuits take the Signal from the computer and controls the 2.5 million pixels on the LCD screen. Dsut can cause major problems with handling all that data. Give it a shot, what do you have to loose, its not dangerous if the monitor is unplugged.
