The flashing yellow light on the Power adaptor points to a potential failure with the power adaptor. Usually when the adaptor is idle their is a solid yellow light, A red light for a total failure and a green light for on.

A YEllow flashing light would indicate that there could be potential problems with the adaptor overheating and/or being faulty. where is the adaptor located ? just like the console itself. they are prone to overheating and collect dust very easily.

i would suggest moving the adaptor into an area with a large opening to allow the flow of air to keep it cool, also i would attempt to remove any dust inside.

well yes obviously the flashing red light means that if u do not turn off ur PS3 it will die. but depending on how long u have had ur PS3, it may be becuase the life span is almost over.
if u have not had for a couple years it is most likely a manufacturing error
u should send it in to sony before the warranty is up and have them take a look at it
