When I turn my printer on, the light goes green, but it keeps doing the "boot up" sound without stopping. If I let it go long enough I can smell the motor getting warm. It doesn't stop and will not print. Any ideas?

I'm having a similar problem as lukrisi. Mine used to do that: turn it on, keep booting, the drum keeps turning and the start up noise keeps continuing... but then I'd just turn it off. Then I'd turn it on again, and it'd be OK.

Now, it's stopped doing that but starts up normally, but won't print. I've tried your suggestion Bob, but it still doesn't work. I've checked for jammed pages, pulled out the ink cartridge and put it back in again.... my ML-2510 just seems to have a strange temperament. Some days it'll print, other days it wont...

Try taking out the Drum and toner cartridges, ensure there are no blockages in the paper channels. Re-install and reconnect to mains.

These are the instructions which worked for me on my Canon pixma mp470:

Canon mp250, not printing. Print screen says "creating print data" and freezes there.

This sounds like an internal memory problem and I don't have a workaround. Before you give up, try this technique to reset the printer to factory. They are great printers once you learn this reset technique. Turn off printer. Hold down Stop/Reset button with one hand and turn printer on with other hand. After green light comes on for the ON button, press the Stop/Reset button two times and you should see the green light blink off and the orange alarm light blink "on" with the first press and then the green light comes back on for the power button and the orange light goes off with the second press (if you did it correctly). Now, you need to hold down the ON button about five seconds, then let go to shut OFF the printer. When you turn it back on, the printer should be back to the factory original condition. Make sure you set all your printer properties the way you want them again from your printer properties dialog boxes because some of the settings may have been stored in the printer's EEPROM, which you just reset to get rid of the offending alarm code.

Computer won't fully boot up

you need to press the F8 key to get to safe boot mode then you can probably go in and figure out what is going on. If it's not F8, there will usually be some indicator what you need to do to get to safe mode. You can do some diagnostics when in safe mode, such as system restore. You may have a virus, but without more info, I can't say. Try that first, see how that goes
