Monitor displays properly then screen goes blank

Monitor displays properly, then after about 2 seconds, screen goes black. This happens even in the test mode with no input cables plugged in. The green power button remains lit. If I power it off and on again, it again displays for about 2 seconds, then goes off.

Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

The desktop is displayed for @ 2seconds when the monitor is turned on then the screen goes blank. This happens every time the power button is used. I've run the Self-Test mode and the Check Signal Cable...

This may be a common problem with these, I have 2 side by side, both failed in the same way within days of each other even though one is used more than the other. I know its not faulty, as you say, it runs fine for 5 seconds, then goes black, power down & back up, runs fine for another few seconds.. will be searching for a fix for this, as local service co. wants close to what I paid for them new just to look at, and tell me its gonna cost $500 to fix.. probably! my guess its a inverter capacitor, or dry joint, and some sensing circuit is shutting the monitor down. To open, you need to slide a hard thin plastic wedge along the edge, with a slight pry it opens up at the tags, there are 4 tags across the top, and 3 down each side, if careful, you can oen without damaging plastic case edges. be careful of the inverter leads and PCB (under the shiny aluminium side plate), they can hold a fair belt of DC even after monitor is off for awhile.

It switches on for just a second and then the screen stays blank

yetimonsta, Are you sure that the monitor is BLANK?? Or is it just BLACK? Or is it both BLANK and BLACK? Connect a known good monitor to your pc to prove that your pc is working correctly. What does your L90D+ do when connected to good pc. Have you done the flashlight test to evaluate the state of the "switch-mode-power-supply" when lcd panel goes black /blank?? Screen Goes Blank

Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

Hi ,
The monitor flicker problem. The monitor when turn on will display image for couple of second then turn black. The monitor status led is still green. This will happen each time it is turn on. The symptom at appear to come from the inverter board.

Monitor displays breifly then goes to blank screen

If tried the monitor on two other computers with the same result -- definitly your monitor is faulty. Take it to the repair shop. To make double sure, run your computer with another monitor. If everything is fine now; you can blame the monitor.

Monitor displays breifly then goes to blank screen

The power -inverter board probably needs an overhaul.
I redo many of these.
If the screen was pinkish or flickering before it finally got to this point, it is possible that a bulb has gone bad.
