Are you talking about spots you see on the pictures? Are these spots you see in the same place on all the pictures? If you really want to see if your sensor is dirty pick a clear day with a great blue sky focus to infinity and then shift the lens to manual focus and the program to "P" take a pitch of the blue sky. Then down load this picture to the computer and open it up to 100% and look it over if there are spots then the sensor should be cleaned. Even if you take the lens off and look into the camera body you still can't see the sensor all you are looking at is the mirror inside the prism box.
To clean the sensor you need to put the camera into "clean" mode which locks the mirror up. It may be possible you just have a dirty lens or UV filter.

There is a dark spot that is showing up on all my pictures and it's getting larger

To make sure this spot is where I think it is, on the sensor, You should put the camera in manual, A priority and whose the highest value. Shoot in bright light a complete white paper.
Then evaluate the picture on the monitor. If the spot is clearly viable the spot is on the sensor. With a fixed lens on your powershot, you can't repair or correct yourself. You should contact Canon. Don't tell Canon, you were in a moist environment. Perhaps a mould is growing on the sensor.

On every picture shooted by my K100D, I am having dark spots on top right and left of the pictures. This indicates, there are some dirty spots on the lens. How to clean this?

Actually, it means you have dust on the sensor if the spots are in the same place on every picture. Google the words "cleaning a DSLR sensor" for instructions with pictures on how to clean it yourself. The sites also list places to obtain the supplies you will need.

Mainly with Sky back gounds of blue there are dark spots appearing on the picture which are not due to marks on the lens. On Lighter sky photographs they are not as noticable or disappear. Change the lens...

The spots are dust on your sensor. You can clean these yourself but you must learn the techniques first. Google the words...cleaning a DSLR sensor. You will be taken to sites which will explain in detail how to do it and what supplies you will need. It may seem daunting at first, but it is really easy once you know how.

Canon power shot sd1000 black dot on lens

If by saying the upper right corner of the lens you really mean that there is a dark spot on each image AND the rear display, there may be dirt or dust on the lens itself. Clean the lens with an optical quality cleaner. Do not use paper towels and Windex or the like - as paper towels can scratch the lens.

It is also possible that the dark spot is a "stuck pixel" on the image sensor inside the camera. There is no way to repair a stuck pixel outside of replacing the sensor. Any dark spot (regardless of source) can be edited out by using image editing software. This will allow you to to make the dark spot less noticeable - or practically invisible.

If the dark spot is on the rear display only, it can also be a result of a "stuck pixel" on the display itself. This should not show up an images, but only on the display. There is little that can be done outside of replacing the entire rear screen.

There are other things that can cause these problems, but those listed above are the most common.

I hope this was Very Helpful and good luck!

Dark circular spot on Ricoh R6 screen and images

There is a spec of dirt that made it inside the camera and has landed itself on your image sensor.

If you take a picture and the image has a spot on it, it could be the screen. If you transfer it to your computer and the spot is in the same spot, its something on the image sensor. You would have to send it out for cleaning, and a new camera would be cheaper.

The camera is developing dark areas around the edge of the pictures on 2 different sides. you can see these dark spots on the viewfinder and on the pictures. what is causing this?

If your lens is clean.

The dark spots maybe your image pickup sensor going out. Try going into the menu to tools select pixel mapping see if that helps it will look at all your pixels and determine if they are bad & try to compensate.

Hope it helps. Good Luck! please let me Know if this works or if you need more help.

If the dark spot is not focused, it could be on the sensor. Otherwise, check the lens for any dust particles. If you can't find any dust, take the camera to an authorized service center.
