I own a KENWOOD DVR-7000 DVD player. I live in UK and bought the player for 1,200 Singapore dollars. It only plays original fixed DVD regions. Is there any code or fix I can enter so the DVD can read many more disc formats?! It's not even reading VCD's. Should I replace the DVD drive?

1) Switch Player off then On (this is to clean-boot firmware).
2) Wait until main menu appears
3) Open Disc Tray and Close Disc Tray (May not be necessary)
4) As soon as "No Disc" is displayed quickly press REPEAT on
remote quickly use the following code for your current
region:
Region 1: Press - 2,9,3,3,4
Region 2: Press - 5,7,5,3,8
Region 3: Press - 5,6,7,3,2
Region 4: Press - 7,6,8,8,4
Region 5: Press - 5,3,8,1,4
Region 6: Press - 2,4,4,6,2
5) Your current Region will appear in the top-right corner
6) Quickly Press "9" before it disappears (It should replace
the code with a "9" in the corner)
7) Switch Player Off and then On again.

Note that REPEAT is part of the code so one smooth press of
6 keys is required.

The dvds discs u bought from the UK is play on only the DVD player that play PAL signal format. Where u live Canada,US or Mexico?DVD players in these countries.It play only NTSC signal format.U can't change DVD players regions format,only can a DVD players that have regions free to play all DVDs discs of the world.

vd player do not match those of the dvd's themselves therefore they aren't playing. To fix this you will need to hack the region settings of your dvd player (which is perfectly safe). Post back with the make and model of your dvd player and I'll gladly look and see if there are any known process's to do so. Thank you for choosing Fixya!

I bought today a Philips HTS 8140 region 4 and i use this solution

1. Abrir a bandeja do aparelho / Open the tray

2. Aperte a tecla DISC / Press DISC buton

3. Digite o código 99990 / Insert 99990 code

4. Feche a bandeja / Close the tray

Hi, same thing happened to my one of the above. I bought a cheap dvd player to view movies and run the audio through the kenwood to use the surround speakers.
