Not likely a do it yourself repair---loss of the filament voltage (6.3 volts) in the power supply of the set (some had issues where a resistor changes value).
My Phone has done that a couple of times before. It would slowly start turning off more & more often then it wouldn't turn on with the same problem as you.

try putting it in recovery mode what you have 2 do is is hold down the play button while you turn on your mp3, as soon as you see thee logo release the play button and then choose the "reload os/ firmware" then follow instructions
