Question about Reddy Heater-30-55,000 BTU Variable

Open Question

S/n#zg080481b mod#blp42a, rlp40, spc-40a all these are listed on the heater. fan runs fine, when i ignite and hold the primer button in (not really sure if it is called the primer) the unit runs fine, once I let off the primer button the unit stops burning. have tried to turn off gas supply and open very slowly this does not work. have tried different tanks, this does not work. note, did leave heater on job and customer tried to use without plugging in (no fan) this is when problem started. any ideas?

If it effecting the pilot light only, yes. If it effecting the main burner, you will need a thermo-pile or pile-generator.

Sounds like you have a bad gas hold on valve. I have a tip at http://www.fixya.com/support/r4258201-fix_gas_reddy_heaters_will_not_continue which explains the problem, how to fix it and where to get the parts. Let me know if you need more help.

My 40-FAC heater will not ignite and run. The igniter has been replaced. What should I check next?

These models require electrical power to run the blower fan.
When you connect the electrical cord, the fan should turn on, then you should be able to start / ignite the propane. if the fan does not turn on when you connect the power cord, you will not be able to ignite the propane.

achowe - Several things can cause what you have described.

Restricted air flow. Check the heater's inlet & for any obstructions.
Damage Fan - check the fan for any obvious damage.
Excessive dust or debris inside the heater or in the surrounding area.

To help you more, I am including a link to the Owners Manual for your heater. You can download and print it for future reference. If you find you need to order parts, they can be found online at Master Distributors. They stock all the parts for DESA/Reddy Heaters.

I have a spc-40 heater i can not get it to stay fired up i press the fuel button and it does lite but after 15 to 20 i release button and it goes out what do i need to do to make it work again

Ensure all your connections are tight and not leaking. I would shot off the tank using the valve on the top. Disconnect it, then re-connect it. Once connected, ensure the fan on the unit starts to turn. Then you can slowly open the valve, give it a good 4-5 turns to ensure it is open. They try the ignition sequence again.

Heater wont stay lit when i let go of primer button after a few seconds

try holding down the button for 15 to 20 seconds and then let go ( this will let the system heat up to the proper temp ),, if it still will not stay lit then the thermal coupling is bad and needs to be replaced.

No heat

It is either the igniter or the limit. Their is a limit mounted
at the 12 o'clock position beside the igniter. If you look at this video you will see it. Well the base of it and 2 philliphead screws that hold it anyway. LOL

Check ot the video HERE
