Hi my compaq presario r4000 winndows 7 op systerm ,,all the 4 usb pots are not working,any time i plug usb i got mssge saying ,the usb is not working properly so windows has stop it ,,but when i plug those same usb stick to any other computer they work ok.Please help me out. thanks

Run a HDD Test

Restart Computer -> Immediately keep tapping F10 Key which is on 1st row of Keyboard

Go to diagnostics with your arrow keys

Go to Primary HDD Test -> Press Enter ->

See the Test result

If Fail then Contact HP for Replacement of HDD or Service

Have you tried checking your BIOS? Pls make sure that the on board USB setting are enabled...this should fall under the integrated peripherals...

Your battery is dead, replace it.

It seems that your notebook does not have sata connection to Hard drive. Your harddrive is IDE connection. Sorry but you can't use SATA on this laptop.

When you start it up, go to the BIOS option and select "peripheral" settings. I don't know which column its under but you want to turn the network adapter off. If that makes your Operating System come up working (And you may have to come up in SAFE mode the first time), then you can always go back and reset the BIOS to recognize the network adapter, or install a different one.

its better that u dont use other 2 usb an use just 2 that works.but try this.
go to bios and load default value and save and restart .

You can use the function keys to increase the brightness. Also if you go to Start, Control Panel, Power Options you can change the settings to give you more monitor time.

You can call compaq & order a recovery cd or you could just reload an operating system.

did you try to buy a usb hub with power adapter? maybe it needs enough power to supply the devices.
