Try installing the drivers again from the disk that came with it change the batteries first if it is wireless and also make sure that you are plugged into the keyboard port in the back and not the mouse port. If this does not work get another keyboard and check it again if that does not work then either the mouse port plug is bad or driver is not installed for the keyboard by default it should of picked it up. If this does not work then you have board issue with the plugin you can also try going to a USB keyboard so all is not lost here. Also press power button turn off the computer unplug the power cord hold the power button down for about 5 seconds to reset the computer let go when you see lights flash then plug the power cord back in and restart the computer look for the lights to blink on the keyboard if it will not blink then just go get either a USB one or another keyboard. Problem should be solved keyboards are not that hard to get or replace and relatively easy to replace, time is not.

You should install the drivers and software for the keyboard first. If you have already done that, try plugging the keyboard into another available port on your computer.

On my hp pavilion laptop. Battery is missing so I have it plugged in to outlet. The issue is the keyboard won't type.

if it wont type any letter at all after a re start
you can plug in an external usb keyboard on that laptop

if the mouse works go into
device manager and look for the keyboard
click on it see if the driver and device is working

if not
would say it needs a new keyboard panel

Hi my inspiron 1545 boots up and aks for a password. It will not let me go into f12 or f2 settings. when I type in anything at the requesting password screen I do not see anything being typed and then

you need to remove the cover of the laptop locate the password jumper.(near the hard drive, clearly labelled.) take what looks like a little cap off. push the power on button for three seconds. replace cap close laptop, replace cover, and your password will be reset. leave it blank, do not do this with laptop a/c power cord plug into wall socket.

Inspiron mini keyboard wont work

If you have a desktop keyboard with a usb plug, attach to your laptop and should get you up and running. Try a system restore of your computer before this happened it might get the laptop keyboard going.

My mouse doesnt work, when my mouse s plugged the keyboard wont work too

Try to unplugged both (mouse and keyboard) and reboot your computer. Wait at least 10-20 seconds and plugged the two devices. If your devices is a USB type try to interchange the plugged to a different port. Hope this will fix your issue.

Keyboard LX501 keys wont work

Sounds like the Mac reconfigured your keyboard. Try a keyboard reset method like this one: https://www.wikihow.com/Reset-a-Keyboard
If no luck google "reset external keyboard".
Good luck!
