Hello,
If your player wont play dvd, then it means there is a problem somewhere inside the unit. Most likely the lens is weak or dirty. First try to use a lens cleaner for the player to see if it will play any disc, if it does play the dvd, then it means the lens was just dirty and needed to be cleaned.
You can also try to clean your lens, by taking the player apart and using a cotton bud to clean it up. To take the player apart, you need to get a star screwdriver, then you unplug the player, then you unscrew the screws around it, slide off the back cover, then you unscrew the hook that is above the lens that covers holds the disc in place, then you use a cotton bud to carefully clean the lens. Before you reassemble the player just screw the disc holder that is above the lens back and plug it, then try to play a disc, if it does not play a disc still, then it means the lens is weak and need to be replaced.
To replace the lens, just take out the disc tray, disconnect the flexi ribbon that connects the lens to the main board, then you disconnect the lens itself, and replace it with a new one. then you reassemble the player back together.
This time, it will play your dvd discs.
Hope this helped. Take care and good luck

WHY MY PORTABLE DVD WON'T PLAY

It won't play for one of two reasons:
1. There is something inside the DVD player, which keeps it from playing.
2. The DVD player's battery has run out of juice and can no longer play, meaning the player needs to be replaced.

Drive won,t play discs and sometime won,t reconize that a disc is

If the "bad" disks work fine in some other DVD-player, then it's time to spend $40 and buy a new DVD-writer.

Or, if your current DVD-player is under the manufacturer's warranty, exercise the warranty, to get it repaired/replaced.
