Got to settings in the PS3 Crossbar and go to display settings. The first one should say video output settings, click on it. It should say your connection type is HDMI. Select component/D Terminal and hit change. The screen should go blank. During this time plug it in to your other t.v by the scart. It should say "Can you read this screen?" hit yes and there you go. To go back to HDMI do the same.

I have a JVC RM-C60 TV. I'm trying to tune it in to my Virgin Media HD box using a standard SCART lead but having no joy. It's completely failing to find the cable channel (or any other for that matter)....

Tuning of the TV not required when using scart lead, just select external input that the scartis connected to, ie AV1,AV2 (EXT1,EXT2) etc. The problem is possibly to do with the Virgin box, it may be set to HDMI out in which case it will not output anything via the scart lead, you would need to connect via an HDMI lead (small socket on the rear of the unit looks a little like a USB socket). Problem is if your TV is a CRT television its unlikely to have this socket. Your Virgin box can be reset to output via the scart but you would need to contact Virgin for this process.

I want to connect a sky+ hd box to my jvc gm-v42e can you tell me what leads I require to get 1080 resolution. The sky box has a hdmi connection but the tv doesn't.

Hi, I've just been given one of these. I'm not a 'Techy' but I am having the same problems as you so I'll share what I've found out so far.
The JVC GM-V42E is actually a plasma monitor, not a TV, as it doesn't have a built in TV tuner.
The picture quality is very good, as at the time it was produced, it was a top of the range plasma monitor for professional use, and was discontinued in about 2006. However, it is not HD/HD Ready, so you won't be able to use an HDMI cable or view programmes in HD. There is also no scart, so you can't connect it to the Sky box this way either.
I spoke to JVC Professional's technical department and they suggested using a scart to 3 BNC connector. The scart plugs into the Sky box and the 3 BNC connection plugs into the monitor. The monitor itself has loads of connections, the ones you want are labelled 'Component RGB/B'. The three pins you are after in this section are labelled 'Video' and each are called 'Y/G', 'Pb/B' and 'Pr/R'. This will connect the visual aspect, and you will also need a twin phono lead (red & white) to plug into your Sky box and into the monitor to connect the audio / sound.
I went to Maplin's and they don't sell these so I am trying a scart splitter that connects to the screen with a 3 phono lead (the red, yellow and white connectors). At the moment I am trying plugging these into the section marked 'Video B'. The 3 phono lead then connects to the splitter, where scarts from the Sky Box and DVD can be connected. I don't know if this will work yet - but I'll keep you posted and update this thread once I have managed to get it up and working...
Hope that helps... :-)
I have yet to try either solution, but will get back to you once I have tried them and tell you which one works.

Jvc plasma monitor gmv42e can not get a picture just sond no scart so what do i do

I have just been given one of these, it not a TV, it is a monitor, and so does not have a TV tuner or a scart (it was made for professional use).
You need to plug it in to a DVD player/Freeview/Sky box using alternative means to a scart lead. You can do this by using a scart to 3 BNC lead and plugging this in where it says 'Component/RGB B'. This carries the picture, but not the sound. To get the sound you will need to plug a twin phono lead into the red and white audio plugs.
Alternatively, you can use the 'Video in' yellow socket to connect to connect to a DVD etc. The guy did this in Maplin's and it seemed to work.
JVC professional were really helpful on the phone, ask for their technical department, they can also email you the manual.

Hooking up playstation 3 to tv

you need a ps3 scart lead. i think the one of the ps2 is the same but check. it should just hook up like a ps2. if you are having any problems with the picture hold down the power button when you start up the ps3 for 10 seconds this runs the optimal screen settings for the cable you are using. but if it is the first time you are using the ps3 it will auto start in set up mode. hope this helps
