Hi, With all due respect, there is not a lot you can do appart from return the unit. This all in one units are pretty horrid quality wise. There is very little control over the eq and balance of the system. I'm sure you can turn the centre level up, but I guarentee you, it will still sound muffled because they are only little cheap plastic boxes that are made in bulk cheaply and they make thee money by slappiny the Sony name badge on it. Sorry, not a fan.
You should always try before you buy. No one has your ears, only you. Therefore only you know what sounds right to you.

The rear surround sound speakers are not working.the front ones are and the sub woofer works fine also. everything is connected properly but have no idea what to do to make them work.can you please help

Make sure that the media you are using has the surround sound...eg. if you are listening to the radio then the rear speaskers will not work as the signal is not transmitted in surround...if you put a dvd in that has the dolby digital signal encoded on it then the rears should work....the rears will only work when you have the receiver in the surround mode..make sure the receiver is in the right mode...also, you may have rear speaker volume settings in the setup menu that may need to be set up..go through the manual and see if there is a setting for the rear volume...most home theater sets have this feature and it allows you to set up the system for different size rooms

are you using the speakers that come with it? its not typically recomended to use speakers not included with your htib system due to the diffrence in nominal ohms. however if you are using the original speakers check to see that the positive and negative wires are not touching. also check to see that there are no loose or cut wires if you have taken all of these precautions then most likely your unit is over heating due to prolonged use

Center speaker and wireless rear speakers have no sound

I had the same issue, but apparently...it's not an issue. What I discovered is that the system was fine, but the station I was watching didn't broadcast in 5.1 surround sound. Therefore, only the front speakers will have sound. Try putting a dvd in, or listening to a gameing system through it. If you don't have sound after listening to something that puts out full surround sound, then you know you have an issue.

Sony hdx279w surround

Hi,
Your system should come with all the cables and connectors you need for the system. The rear speakers should plug directly into the back of the system using the speaker connectors that came with your system. If you are trying to add additional speakers then you need special connectors for that type of application. You can try www.BogueEngineering.com for special connectors. Hope that helps

I need help with my surround sound!!

The calibration mic thing is to balance the sound evenly on surround sound systems, it replacles the older systems "TEST TONE" speaker setup, in other words it will balance each speaker say in a 5.1 setup to adjust the level output so the listening position is not overwhemled by say the rear surround speaker overriding the front left & right speaker or the most critical the center speaker. The calibration mic uses computer tech to make it easier for the user, no sound pressure calibration is needed as with the test tone setup mentioned earlier. The wireless speaker situation could be possibly waiting for the calibration confirmation, Read any user manual information if available.
