If you have no 'BIOS' startup display, try:

  • Unplug the PC from the main AC power to force a hard reset. Reboot and test.
  • cleaning the memory board 'gold' contact with a white soft pencil eraser and swap them around if you have a couple. Reboot and test.
  • using a single memory board if you have more than one. Reboot and test for each memory board individually.
If you have 'BIOS' startup display, but fail to boot, also try:
  • Check and re-seat all external and internal cables (HDD, USB), and PCI cards (eg. Video)
  • Check Bios setting expecially for HDD
Hope it helps and good luck!

I'm having an aspire m5640. it does not boot. beep?

Yes if there are error on the system you should most likely hear a beep most of the time when there is no beep it is due to bad ram. Some times beep codes can't detect bad ram and your computer will not boot.
Open the computer up and see how many ram chips you have if you have more than one take the one in dimm slot 2 out. There should be small writing next to the slots 1,2,3,4 or Dim 1 dim 2 ect ect. you always want to keep slot 1 with ram so start by pulling out the ram out of slot 2 and turn your computer on. If your computer still dosn't post pull the ram out of slot 1 out and insert the ram that was in slot 2 into slot 1 if still no luck it's most likely your board but the best way to test this is to know that you have a good working stick of ram you could purchase one and if it dosnt work bring it back ... theres also the chance of your video card being bad but there is usualy a post code for it (beep code)
if you have no clue on what ram looks or how to open your computer just google for installing ram on a computer and you should find step by step guides

Acer aspire m5460 the power light comes on and the DVD turns or makes a sound like it is turning, but nothing to the screen like the BIOS are not booting up.

Open the case and take out the RAM (memory) then put it back, take out the CD/DVD if any. Now turn on your PC again. If still no luck try other solution, witch you should Clear Bios or CMOS, by either resetting a jumper on the motherboard itself.

I have an Acer Aspire M5640. Problem:

might be a memory problem.
run this software http://www.memtest86.com/download.html
your best bet is to make a bootable cd and run at start.
If its not memory then it could be virus.
download malwarebytes from this site -http://www.malwarebytes.org/
do quick scan

Acer aspire 5315 doesnt boot blank screen

When you power up the laptop press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios setup.
Then check your harddisk is detect or not?
Then also make sure SATA option is disabled in bios.
Then go to boot option and set first boot device as your harddrive. Then save settings and exit.
But if you even not able to enter in bios then you have reset bios settings and Refix RAM memory .
For that open back cover fo laptop and find cmos cell on motherbord pull it for 10 minutes so all settings of bios goes to factory defaults.
Let me know if you need more assistanse.
Thanks.

Cannot Boot Acer Aspire M5640

Not sure there is a way to 'reset' the modules, but you can remove them one by one to see if one is bad.

Just flip the hinges on each side of the memory stick and the module should pop out. I would remove one by one then startup the computer and see if that's the problem
