It has an automatic degaus function. Switch the set off at the mains switch and leave it off overnight. It will automatically degaus the tube when switched on from cold.

KV-36XBR400 won't turn on, "standby/stero" light

You are correct. You are right about the power supply and replacing with led hdtv. You will be happy with a Samsung led. Time to upgrade.

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-34HS420 34" TV Last week the picture on the left and right of the screen started to go purple. It was about 2 inches from the outside that it did it. It went back to...

It is most likely a degaussing issue - replace the PTC thermistor (this is usually a 3-pin device located near the fuse in the power supply board; each has a different part number for different TV models and tube sizes) - check for dry solder joints on it first though, if they are intact, note the part number, as well as its reference on the PCB, order a replacement, fit it (they usually only fit one way on the board). I doubt this model uses electronic degaussing so the part itself should be easy enough to get hold of.

It might also be a good idea to borrow an electric degaussing wand from a workshop as well if you can, to fully remove the extraneous magnetic fields around the tube. This should hopefully solve your purity problem.

My Sony KV-36BR200 has poor color resolution. I have used the remote to adjust the various picture functions and even tried the reset procedure with no improvement.Could the degaussing not be functioning?...

Yes, the first thing you should check is the degaussing coil - just check that the thermistor is doing its job of powering it correctly. Then, if only the colors appear to have problems, you should check the phase shift on the oscillator of the NTSC discriminator, small errors there can cause dramatic changes in the colors.
But if the general brightness of the screen is lower than it used to be (as i suspect it is) then this is a sign that the tube is near death: the cannons for the primary colors have aged at a different level and the difference has grown beyond what the white balance system of the tv is capable of compensate. The only way to fix that is to replace the tube, impossible since its no longer made for a long time now.
Sorry, it's time for a new tv.

Colors Faded in my sony KV-HA21M83A 21''

Its magnetic effect on picture tube. Power Off TV for 20-30 minutes then turn it On, hope problem will be resolved. Please also check and remove any speaker or some thing have magnet near by TV.
If color spots are still there, picture tube need to degaussed / demagnetized.
