The old software may not be compatible with the new operating system in your new mac. You could always use a separate card reader to download your pics...works without special software.

1. Forget about getting the computer to recognize the camera. Do what the pros do...use a card reader instead of the camera and download to a folder you create on the desktop. 2. Sorry, but "format" completely erases the card with no hope of retrieval. typrice_192.jpg

Lost my cannon powershot sd360 cd

I hope you mean the Canon SD630.

You can download Canon software from
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/digital_cameras/powershot_sd_series/powershot_sd630#DriversAndSoftware

(If the formatting's screwed up, it's

)

You might want to consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.

I have tried downloading pictures from my Canon a720 to both my pc and my Mac, neither computer recognizes the camera. I am not sure what to try next.

Mac won't recognise canon drive

First of all, do not save any new file to camera's memory card.

Take out memory card, and connect it to a Windows computer using a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer.
Download this camera photo recovery software
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/
Install and open the photo recovery software, select the memory card, and click 'Start' button.

Download pictures from my Rebel EOS to my computer

Take a look at Picasa, from Google. Also take a look at Irfanview. I haven't used Irfanview in over a year (since I moved from a PC to a Mac - it's the one piece of software I really miss on my Mac), but before I moved to the Mac it was my primary photo organizer and viewer. It's a very impressive program for free software from an individual programmer (Irfan).
