How to Use Nokia PC Suite
By Jesse Sears, eHow Contributor

Those who own Nokia cell phones are lucky enough not to have to deal with the dreaded plea for a call from all their friends and associates, due to the fact that they have lost their cell phone and all the numbers associated with it. Using Nokia PC Suite software, you can backup all your contacts, photos, text messages, video files, music files, and all other content on your cell phone using any PC computer. The software is available for download from the Nokia website, and any Nokia cell phone equipped with a mini-USB port can use the Nokia PC Suite software.

Things You'll Need:

* Nokia cell phone with mini-USB port
* Nokia PC Suite software, downloadable from Nokia.com or packaged with your cell phone
* Mini-USB to USB cable
* Micro SD Card, included with your Nokia phone or purchased separately
* Optional: Bluetooth-equipped laptop
* Windows XP or Vista software

Instruction

Make sure the Nokia phone you own, or are thinking of purchasing, is equipped with a mini-USB port. Nearly all new Nokia handsets have a port, and many of the older high-end Nokia phones do as well. You will need a mini-USB cable, which should come with your phone.

Go to (for North American Nokia phones) to download the Nokia PC Suite software. You will need a Windows 2000 or greater machine for the software to work. Click the link to download, and then install the software on your PC. Everything you need will be installed onto your hard drive.

Plug in the small end of the mini-USB to USB cable into your phone, and the larger end into your PC. The Nokia PC Suite software, if properly installed, will come up with a dialog box recognizing your phone.

Look on your Nokia cell phone's screen, which will now recognize that the handset is plugged into a PC with Nokia PC Suite software installed. The phone will give you two options: Data Transfer mode and Nokia mode.

Choose Data Transfer mode if you just need to transfer files from your Nokia handset to your PC via Nokia PC software. This will cause your PC to bring up a folder with the contents of your cell phone's internal memory, and/or one for the contents of the micro SD card plugged into your Nokia cell phone, if it has one installed. This will allow you to drag and drop files from your cell phone onto any folder on your Windows machine, or vice versa. The advantage of this is you can install programs you have downloaded off the internet, easily transfer music tracks onto your phone, or any number of other functions.

Pick Nokia Mode if you want to take full advantage of the features your Nokia PC Suite software allows. This will bring up a graphical user interface that allows you to do a variety of things with the click of a button.

Click the "Backup Phone" option to bring up a dialog box that will allow you to, all at once, backup the address book, images, video files, music files, programs, text and MMS messages, and anything else you have on your Nokia handset all at once. This feature becomes extremely useful should you ever break, lose or otherwise destroy your phone. As long as you purchase another Nokia model, you can instantly transfer your entire contacts list and other information onto your new phone.

Take some time to look around at the other different modes Nokia PC Suite software offers the user. You can transfer music files using a dedicated window, where they will be instantly integrated into your cell phone's on board music player. You can also install programs, through ".jad" and ".jar" files. This will avoid the headaches of having to download software on your cell phone, where any number of security breaches can happen.

Use Nokia PC Suite software to use your phone as a modem to "tether" your laptop to the internet as well. If you have a data plan through your cell phone provider, Nokia PC Suite software will allow you to use an EDGE or 3G connection to connect your laptop to the internet anywhere you have cell phone service. Nokia PC Suite software has any number of other useful features to increase the fun and productivity of your Nokia handset beyond the scope of what you thought a phone could accomplish.

I wanted to install nokia pc suite on my toshiba laptop for my nokia n70 cell phone.PC suite did install ok but it did not complete the installation of the interface cable.What should i do?

Did you follow the instruction on how to install the PC Suite? Their instruction is to install the PC Suite without you connecting the mobile via USB. After finishing the installation you will have to restart your laptop then connect the mobile phone via USB then it will auto detect possible drivers the mobile may need.

I can not conect my usb data cable to pc.

Possible that the cable is faulty or that the phone soft ware is faulty. You can check the sd card for any corrrupt files, if so delete and reset phone.
If not the software needs a reinstallation if you have checked with a working cord tested on another phone.

Connect ACER Aspire 5100 w/ nokia 3120 , using

It is very simple provided that your system has a Bluetooth, and you have a very recent Nokia PC Suite, preferrably from version 7.1.18.0 and above. If you dont have, you can just go online and download a copy from either :
http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/download-software/nokia-pc-suite
or
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Mobile-Phone-Tools/Nokia/Nokia-PC-Suite.shtml
Just Install the Nokia PC Suite on your system, and make sure that your system 's bluetooth as well as your phone's bluetooth are switched on.
Thereafter after installing the Nokia PC Suite, when you are prompted to select connection type, just select bluetooth and click next. The software will then try to automatically detect your phone and pair with it. It might ask you for a passcode, just use 1234, or any other number you like.
Hope this helps you out.
Goodluck!
