I have a DVD-VR375 and am trying to dub from a Sony VCR8 model CCD-FX430.
I have all the wires connected from DV8 to DVD unit and have confirmed playback of tape on the T.V.
After selecting DV/D8 One Touch Dubbing the following error message occurs:
Cannot connect to DV/D8 device.

The Sony Handycam CCD-FX530 manual is the same as that for the CCD-FX430. This manual is available at ManualsLib: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/525601/Sony-Ccd-Fx430.html#product-CCD-FX530 . You can download the manual after clicking the Download button near the top left of the page. You will need to prove that you are a human to access the PDF.
There is a possibility that the DVD was not burnt to be compatible with other players. Or the player you are trying to play it on does not play burnt DVDs.
First did you finalize the disc after dubbing? When the DVD/VCR recorder is in stop mode, press Menu and navigate to Disc Settings > Disc Finalize and select Finalize and press Enter. Select OK and then Enter again. (Navigate the menus with the up/down arrows followed by pressing enter. Use the right/left arrows to highlight an option.)
If the disc was finalized, try a different brand of DVD+R or a DVD-R disc. I've seen some DVD recorders that don't work well with some brands or types of discs. (The same can happen with computers - burning a coaster.)
Store bought tapes with movie release have a copy guard protector imprinted in the tape preventing successful dubbing, especially the more recent movies.
If you have a scart socket on the back of the vcr poss marked av1.Connect a scart lead to this and if the dvd recorder has scart sockets connect to the one marked av2.Then put the vcr on play and the dvd on av2 and you should be able to record, hope this works.Jamie
The DVD-VR375 does not have an HDMI input. The connection should be: • RED WHITE & YELLOW CABLE from your cable box (AV OUT) should connect to the DVD-VR375 (AV IN 1). Set the DVD-VR375 to AV 1 using the INPUT SEL. button. • Next, connect an HDMI cable from the DVD-VR375 (HDMI OUT) to the TV (HDMI IN). Set the TV to the proper source. This connection would allow the recorder to work as a pass through and will let you record TV programs as well as watch your cable channels.
Samsung's solution to many problems seem to be the type of dvd. Try using a dvd-r. I am able to select dubbing with a dvd+r, but the +r discs won't play in other dvd players. Apparently, -r is the only disc to use with this box to avoid issues. The +r records the soundtrack a few seconds off of the video track.
