How to Create a Password Reset Disk in Windows 7/Vista/XP?

Forgetting Windows password occurs more often than the users would like to think. So if you haven't created a password reset disk for your user accounts, it's time for you to take action. A password reset disk enables you to reset Windows password if your Windows password is forgotten. If you have no idea, just look at the following instructions.

Windows 7/Vista Password Reset Disk

If you are Windows 7/Vista user, you can create a password reset disk to reset Windows password as follows. Just 6 steps:

1. Enter Create a password reset disk in the Start search box.

2. Press Enter to pop up the Forgotten Password Wizard.

3. Insert a USB flash drive and click Next on the Forgotten Password Wizard.

4. Select the right device store the password information of the use account which you are logged on.

5. Enter the current user account password.

6. Wait while wizard creates the password reset disk. Click Next when it 100% finishes and click Finish to exit.

Windows XP Password Reset Disk

If you still use Windows XP, just take the following steps for reference to create a password reset disk to in case of the need of Windows password recovery. Just 4 steps:

1. Click Start > Control Panel > User Accounts.

2. Select the target user account and click Prevent a forgotten password on the left pane. The Forgotten Password Wizard will appear.

3. Insert a USB flash drive and click Next on the Forgotten Password Wizard.

4. Follow the wizard to create a password reset disk.

Windows Password Reset Disk Tips

1. The created password reset disk should be kept in a safe place as anyone can use it to reset Windows password without any limitations.

2. When you enter a wrong Windows password, the Password Reset link will appear under the password box. You can simply click the link to start Windows password recovery with your created password reset disk.

3. If you forgot Windows password without such a disk, you can reset Windows password by a Windows password recovery tool like Windows Login Recovery.
