Hi,to know what watts to use for marantz pm74d, first you will need to know the watts of marantz pm74d for you to be able to know the watts of the speaker you will want to use for marantz pm74d.

You make sure the watts of the marantz pm74d you want to use for the speakers are not bigger the watt of the marantz pm74d,

eg, marantz pm74d----150 watts
speakers depending on the numbers of speakers your using 60 watts.

So if you are using one speaker of 60 watts and your using more than one, add all speaker watts and divide the speaker watts by the marantz pm74d watts, the weight on the marantz pm74d will be too much to handle too much speakers.

Make sure the marantz pm74d watts is high enough to carry the speaker you want to use.It helps you determine the quality of sound you want to hear..

Thanks for using fixya........

Marantz CD6004 coupled with Marantz PM6004 amp sound from 1 speaker only

Check to make sure your speakers are in phase. This means that they are both wired the same way. Common problem, and can damage your amplifier if not changed. Positive and Negative must be the same on all speakers.

Hello, my Marantz sr-7005 left speaker only does not work, tried the sound test and no sound from left front speaker. All the rest is working. Please help.

Try switching the speakers over. If the sound now comes out of the faulty speaker the amp is faulty. If it doesn't the speaker is faulty.
If you can't find a replacement speaker, then buy a new pair of speakers. Match the ohms found on either the unit or old speakers with the same. The watts of the speaker can be the same or higher than the original.

I am not getting sound from the marantz 5009 receiver to the tv. I am using hdmi cables from receiver to the tv

Huh? why? would you not want to get sound from the lousy TV speaker to the receiver and it speakers instead? That's how I have my Onkyo THX system set-up. My Samsung TV actually has decent speakers but even they are junk compared to a real speaker system. Even $500 worth of real speakers can sound better then the speakers on a $5000 TV. Do not do it.

Gt5 12 inch 275 watts how many watts of amp best?

Depends on what output your stereo is. If you underrate the speakers (speaker watts is less than stereo output), the unit will sound louder for a while, then you end up blowing your speakers with the excess distortion. If you overrate the speakers (speaker watts is higher than stereo output) the speaker will not operate correctly and the distortion can damage it also. Its best to get a close match. Slightly higher is better. It is important you know actual wattage output not PMPO ( Peak music power output) A lot of stereos are rated at PMPO. The higher number sounds great but in reality, the figure is the MAX output and by then the sound is distorting badly. Distortion ruins more speakers than anything else...

Hi There, I have a Marantz SR7005 Receiver and Bose 901 Series VI speakers with the Bose equalizer. I'm struggling to figure out the best way to connect the Bose equalizer/speakers to the SR7005. ...

It sounds like you've read one of my many posts on 901 deployment in the AV world.

Functionally, what is the difference between one amp with 'x' channels or 'x' mono amps? Nothing. Pre-outs don't know or care what else an external amp does.

According to this link http://www.ecoustics.com/electronics/products/new/642968.html those amps are 2- and 5-channel, respectively.

There was a time when I had two bridged-mono Carver Cube atmps (at a real 400 watts) pushing one 901 each but that was big time overkill.

I now use a Carver AV-406 (functionally the same as your MM7055) with the 901 EQ in between the AV Receiver's front pre-outs and two 110-watt channels. Other channels on the AV-406 pull subwoofer and surround back duties. My AVR directly powers only the center and surround speakers.

The MM7025 would work for you.

I have a marantz sr 7001 amp and am running canton 4ohm speakers to front and centre should my amp get really hot and go into protect mode when I am giving it some serious volume

it is not made to drive 4 ohm loads.also if you measure the impedance on the speaker,at some frequencies,it is closer to 3 ohms. This will cause the amplifier to shut down.Today's amplifiers are embellished specs.the old marantz 2325 was 125 watts a channel and weighed 80 pounds. It would eat alive some of the 1000 watt home theater amps of today.Marantz is very nice stuff.

Need an amp to go with speakers

you could get a 1100 watt amp, but, it is ALWAYS good to get a smaller amp than the max rating so you have a "safe" zone and turn it up all the way so you don't have to worry about always running it at its peak( which sounds better but more chance of blowing it)

Marantz Sr8500

Check the speakers impedance. it should be greater then 6ohm otherwise you overload the system. Also, if the speaker sytem is rated (in Watts) below the amplifier's power it overloads the amp at higher volumes.

Center speaker hookup to a MARANTZ mdl 2238

Hi tliguyanadig

You can hook up the speaker "between" left and right outputs. Just connect the center speaker between left +ve and right +ve outputs respectively. It will give a spacial effect that some like and some dont:) Try it and see for yourself. Your marantz amp will handle the load OK. It is rated 38 watts into 8 ohms, but there is not alot of load presented by this sort of setup. Let me know what you think.

Graeme
