SOURCE: P4MBMS Motherboard Problem

Try to solve th eproblem by process of ellimination. On another PC or working mother board, chaeck the video card and memory modules. Unless you are sure that the memory and video card is OK, trying them all together with an untested motherboard will difficult. If you are sure that the Video and memory is OK and still the motherboard will not start, we can narrow down the problem to the mo bo, CPU and Power supply. If the board switches on (LED lights and CPU fan starts) we can rule out th epower supply and we are sure that the problem is in the motherboard / CPU. if this is the case, return the board for replacement. If it eill not power on ( no LED lights and the CPU fan will not start), then it might be that the power switch is not connected properly to the motherboard or the Power supply is defective.

SOURCE: Motherboard not recognizing RAM

If you're running XP SP2, that may be by design because of something Microsoft did in SP2.
Look at the following article for an explanation.

SOURCE: CanĀ“t find my SATA-disk....

I'm sorry to say buddy but I checked ... Then checked some more, and I can't see anything about your motherboard supporting SATA-II. If you look about you should find a jumper setting on your HDD to limit it to SATA-I, which is about half the speed of sata-ii but I'm almost promising it will work.

Let me know if this solves it, If not I can find the jumper settings for you, But seeing as though you just bought it you should have a manual.

SOURCE: I need a bios upgrade

boot the pc from cold, note the long identifier number - it contains a 2 character identifier for the board manufacturer. For more info go to the Award bios website, it has a better explanation of this. From there you will be able to either download new BIOS from there, or the website of the vendor/manufacturer.

Asus motherboard problems Installed a new F2A55-MLK series to replace old ASUS board. Running XP and when I install the HDD it boots until the starting windows screen and get blue screen Asus tech no help.

go into the BIOS setup and find settings for SATA operation or something similar. the available options should be
1. Native SATA/IDE
2. AHCI supported
3. RAID
windows xp was installed with SATA support but requires special drivers for AHCI or RAID, so you should set your computer's SATA operation to native or IDE in order to solve the problem.
Additional tip:
next time you manage to boot to windows, boot to safe mode (boot while pressing F8), so you can review if all the drivers are well installed in device manager.

If you have got a SATA III HDD, ie if it is a Western Digital Sata III you need to configure the jumpers to work with your older Sata interface port.(Only Sata 1 & 2 ports on your Mainboard Socket 478). As for Seagate Sata III HDD, the configuration is automatic.

If your 500GD HDD is not detected, try updating the BIOS!
A word of caution "Updating the Bios is not for the Novice" Do it at your own risk. Failure in updating the Bios may render your Mainboard useless.

Hope it helps.

Hello, my main board is asus p4p800-vm running xp home with sp3 upgrade with ide hdd's and is running well. i bought 2 new sata hdd's because the board has 2 sata ports, i set the bios to auto to see the...

Windows will not see them because you need to download the SATA drivers for the motherboard from the Asus site.

Download and install to a floppy or USB (advise the latter)
Install windows, and you will get a "press f6 if you want to install a raid device ..."
Press F6 and hopefully, windows will find the drivers, highlight the ones it wants.. the rest should be simple

ASUS P5S800-VM Motherboard set up

Hi m_k_bishop,
You must connect the CD-RW drive to the Secondary IDE connector on your board.
It can not be connected to the Primary IDE port.
(All SATA drives are seen as master drives in the bios).
With that in mind there shouldn't be any data cable connected to the Primary IDE slot.
When you first load the Bios menu screen you should see your CD-RW listed & you should see your SATA drive listed. Go to the title, " BOOT " in your bios.
(If your system has a floppy disk drive connected your Boot menu should read as follows);

First boot device [Floppy Disk]
Second boot device [Your CD-RW drive]
Third boot device [Your SATA drive as shown from the main menu]
No need for a fourth device.

Save the bios & exit. The system will auto restart.

(At boot up re-enter your bios).
Next change the [RAID Mode] to SATA or Enabled anything but RAID.
Once completed save & exit the bios. If everything is connected correctly & you made the changes above your system should see your SATA drive & windows should install.
(Load the windows CD into your CD-RW drive).
The Asus manual lacks the proper information needed for you to make the correct setting changes in the bios.

Good luck m_k_bishop!
Post back if still have trouble... You shouldn't!
