Maytag dehumidifier 5 years old 45 pint

Unit fan runs fine except the compressor won't come on. Unit looks like new.
Is there a schematic available showing voltage outputs at various points on the circuit?

Compressor runs and gets hot but fan will not kick on. Replaced the capacitor and that did not help. One side of coils gets hot, the other side gets cold, which seems normal. Just can't get the fan...

Don't run the compressor for any length of time without the fan operating. Is it possible that the fan must be replaced? Can you power the fan safely to test it?

Less than 2 years old; fan still runs, but no water being removed. Pan is totally dry. Ideas? Anything I can fix on my own?

The compressor relay's purpose is to start the compressor. A faulty relay can result in the compressor failing to cycle on. The relay is accessed from the lower rear of the dehumidifier. The relay is located in the terminal box which is located at the side of the compressor.

Before testing a compressor relay, unplug the dehumidifier to avoid an electrical shock hazard. Also, if the compressor uses a capacitor, it must be discharged first to avoid the risk of electrical shock.

The compressor relay can be accessed by removing the terminal cover box. The cover is held on by tension or with a retaining clip.

Fan running..just not dehumidifying all of a sudden...Maytag+45-Pint+Dehumidifier+M7DH45B2 7 yrs old

Todd, there are 5 basic, yet solvable reason for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%. If you have a manually
controlled model, set the humidity extraction level on Maximum.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder
level
in basement applications . Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity connenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older.

I hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.

My dehumidifier does not work at all anymore

I had the same problem with mine. I had it less than 2 years. The compressor seemed to kick on, but no water collected in the pan. the compressor should be covered for 5 years, but unless you have an extended warranty, there will be a service charge.

My dehumidifier was fried during a thunderstorm and nothing worked afterward, and it wasn't running at the time. I just bouught a frigidaire (45 pint) and I love it! no noise!

Maytag Dehumidifer still works, but is leaking

Well life span is 3-15 years depends how long and hard you run them. 45 pint is about 1000sqft basment. rule of thumbs bigger better. run less and do a better job. I would start by filling the bucket and place in a dry shower see if you have a crack. cant find a source for the bucket discontinued this might be your problem. http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-M7DH45B2A-%3d%3di1025984&PartID=1025984 Repair cost are about 40-50 and hour!!!! good luck
