Hi, my Panasonic PT-50DL54J projection TV is about 6 years old and works greeat even after all these years. However, a while back a "Replace Lamp" message started flashing on the screen. It has been doing this for a few months now. I bought a replacement lamp and replaced it. Not only could I see nothing wrong with the old one, the message still appears with the new one installed. One technician told me there is likely a timer or switch that need to be reset but he is not sure where this is and the manual and lamp replacement paperwork doesn't mention any of this. What to do????

SOURCE: Panasonic PT-50DL54J DLP TV Flashing Light

I had the same problems that most of you have been having, tv turning on and off, lights flashing in all different colors, having to unplug tv to reset and all of that good stuff. I noticed that most of the time this would happen once the tv would start to heat up, and I could hear the fan working a little harder. Well I am not an electrician but It was very simple to unscrew the lower bottom park of the tv, where the fan and most of the electronics sit, then I used an oxygen tank ( I work for a medical company ) to blow out all the dust in the tv, ( you can olso use the compressed air use for computer, but if grandma or grampa have some O2 laying around, it works really good, LOL. )and was very surpriced to see how dusty it was, then I removed the MAIN FAN ( you only need to remove three screws, however there's a box in fron of it, which you'll have to remove first in order to get to the fan ). this may sound a little complicated, but trust me it is not, once you have taken the fan off, clean it all the way around ( best to use a clean rag, the compressed air was not doing the job.
long story short, once I cleaned the fan and put it all back together. The TV still didn't work LOL, Just kidding, It has been working perfect for a little over a week.
If I can help in any other way, please e-mail me @ [email protected]

hope this helps.

SOURCE: I am about to replace a DLP lamp. How do I reset

This all probably comes a couple years too late, but when you install a new lamp, you’ll want to reset the hours on the counter your television has. Doing this will allow you to avoid getting any messages about the lamp needing to be replaced despite you having a new lamp inside your set.
If you need to get into the service menu, you can do so by following these directions:
With power on, hold down VOL minus button on projection display and hold down the PIP or SPLIT button (try both) on the remote simultaneously for more than 5 seconds.

The others are almost right. You first hold down the minus button on your "TV", then at the same time hold down 0 on your remote. Make sure if you have a universal remote to swich it to TV.

Replace lamp flashed today, how long til i lose picture pt 50dl54

It's a timer, it counts the passing of time. The timer does not indicate the condition of the lamp. You may have a day or a year. Best advise would be to have a lamp on hand for when the lamp failure does occur.

I have a Panasonic PT-50DL54J DLP projection TV. It suffers from a shut down problem. Shortly after powering up, the TV shuts off, and the front LED flashes red 6 times. At this point, the TV will not...

I have similar problems. I removed the back panel and use compressed air to blow out all the dust from all the components. Just remember not to blow into the main fan on the right as that is the one cooling the lamp. I don't know for sure if this is the only problem.
Dust built up caused heat built up on the components.

Panasonic pt-50dl54j

The 3 times LED code points to no fan rotation. There are 2 fans. Check the larger fan first, p/n = FBL12G12LS, located near the lamp. Even though that fan may be rotating, it may be slow.
thanks
