As long as you have service and the jetpack is turned on it is transmitting a wifi signal. On the bottom right hand side of your computer screen is an internet icon--look where your time display is and this icon is just before the time. Click this internet icon and it should recognize the Jetpack signal. If it does, it will say "connections are available" right click on that and it will show available connections including the jetpack. Right click on the identified jetpack signal and then click on "connect" and enter the security key and now you should have full internet access. If, when you click on the internet icon, it does not say "connections available", then click on "troubleshoot" and let the device tell you what the issue is preventing connection.
I had them and others. They do not work well and are not worth the money. If you have cable with a wifi hotspot option, you would be better off using that.. The Jetpack sucks big time. Cancel the mifi service.
Are you using a router? Do you use cable internet? Try connecting directly the cable directly into your netbook. If you have internet access then the issue may be with your router.
I would assume you can. Your netbook relies on it's WIFI card, but so does a regular laptop. The Verizon card is just another connection--wireless--through your cell account. Should not be machine specific.
You need to confirm you are actually connected to the internet next. In the Wifi menu that you get to by double clicking the "pc" on the task bar you will see 3 tabs. If the first tab does not have all the IP, sub-net and default gateway filled in with legal numbers then you are not connected. Furthermore if you have an "IP Address:" that starts with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx then you are not connected to the internet.
If your Wifi setup includes a security phrase then under the wireless information tab it will take the following steps: "associating with.....", then "authenticating with...." then "connected to...."
The easiest way to tell if the problem is within a Sylvania Netbook running Win CE 6 is to take it to a McDonalds or other non-secure wifi location and see if it connects.
If it connects there but doesn't connect at "home" then your problem is between the netbook and your home setup not purely a Wifi not working issue.
There is a Wifi driver update available at the www.digitalgadgets.com website as well as the Sylvania Netbook Yahoo group. There are some additional troubleshooting steps at the Yahoo group.
disconnect your router for 10 sec's, then turn on, turn off wifi device on ur laptop, then turn it on again, renew your IP adress, you can find a step by step guide in google, just search "how to renew your IP adress
First you need to check if your netbook has a wireless switch, it used to be in front or by the side or in front of the laptop, if it does, all you need to do is to turn it on, and if there is a wireless network around, then you will be able to connect to the internet.
You can also the control panel to see if the netbook has a wireless switch and where it is located on the netbook, and that will simply tell if you do have wireless service on your netbook.
From the sides of the netbook, there is an internet port, if there is no wireless switch, then you can connect any local connection available in the internet port that is by the side of the netbook.
But you need to ensure there is a local connection somewhere, and the router is working correctly, then you can use the local cable connection, but if there is none, then you will have to buy an external modem for the netbook to go online.
