RTM?
https://www.asus.com/supportonly/VW195S/HelpDesk_Manual/

one tripping point on all monitor is if the menu button lock is on.
RTM for that first if present. it is not there. a lock, button.
11 years old today
read page 10 pdf page. see how auto can be turned off.
clear as day there.
it seem to me the left S key is stuck down and failing
lean the switch there if not broken, any cola drinks splash any switch will make it fail. try cleaning it first.
the S button also is the exit button for menu OSD
if the S button is dead, bingo here.
this S button has 4 second delay on it, so press it for 5 seconds to see if it can wake up.
that is it on S button, issues. (auto adjust)

many of the 195 are CCLF back lamped displayes, not LED
and most are dead now,. totally, or yellow for white.
dim. blinks or randomly works. its days are short if true.

SOURCE: Auto Adjust

There are a couple of things that you can try...
1. Setup on Monitor..: check on monitor menu, if the feature auto adj are enable,.try to Reset setting and resetting your display.
2. On windows(xp) desktop click Start > All programs > Startup... See for apps has executed for starting window. if you see "Adobe Gamma Loader" installed, maybe you haven't to saved your gamma/bright setting (it also happen when the first time installing adobe reader/photoshop, etc) you can resetting by "right" click on desktop > properties > click on Setting tab > click advance > Color management. after done, click apply then ok.

if The picture on monitor is upside, do resetting on monitor menu, > select V POSITION. (Vertical)

Hope this be of some help/idea. Pls post back should you need additional information.

SOURCE: I have an ASUS MW221u

In most of the cases like yours the problem is at the buttons at the lower of the screen. In case one of these buttons is pushed and locked in, all the buttons are blocked. First of all check that the buttons are mechanical working; push them one by one in order to feel the click of the button. In case of one (or more) are not clicking they have problem and has to be replaced. There is the possibility that the click is active although the button is defective; this is because the inner contact of the button is dirty or damaged. In this case you have to open the monitor's case (usually you have to remove the screws at the back of the monitor and open the cover slowly in order the clips all around the frame to get unlocked), spray with a contact cleaner direct at the buttons and push each one several times to get cleaned. By the way that the cover is open check the cables connecting the buttons board with the rest for possible cut or loose contact. VERY carefully plug the monitor and check the results. In case that the problem is still active one of the buttons is defective and needs replacement using soldering tools.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.
If you are satisfied, accept my solution.

The Auto knob maybe mechanically stuck or the internal switch may be defective. Try pressing the Auto switch firmly 10-15 times,If monitor works now the switch is defective and needs replacement. Do rate the solution.

Auto adjust in progress

1. Push the menu button at the front side of your Dell monitor. The icon looks look like a miniature version of your monitor.

2. Push the menu button again. This will exit the monitor menu and launch the OSD (On-Screen Display) menu.

3. Use the down arrow button on your monitor to select "Factory Reset."

4. Push the menu button.

5. Use the down arrow button to select "All Settings." Press the menu button to save changes.

6. Push the menu button twice to exit from the menu. Your Dell monitor will go back to its factory settings default, and its auto-detect feature will be disabled.

Why does the monitor keep "Adjusting" and how do I

In the setup Menu you probably have the auto adjust enabled.
go into the setup menu and locate the screen adjustments disable the auto adjust and see if that fixes your problem, if it doesnot call the Manufacturer technical rep. and ask them, it might need repair.
good luck...

Auto adjust in progress, want it removed

Your video card or monitor sounds like it might be malfunctioning. Have you tried another monitor? Does it show anything on the screen after turning on the computer? If it does then goes to "Auto Adjust" then try restarting and pressing F8 over and over until you get a menu. Then select VGA Mode. Change the screen resolution by right clicking on the desktop and clicking "Properties" then the "Settings" tab. Use the slider to lower the resolution and then restart.

Usually if the auto adjust is flickering intermittently you can attempt to reset the internal values to the factory settings. To do so: press the menu key on your monitor then choose factory reset. Press the menu button again then select all settings.
