Canon powershot SD750

When I turn on the camera, I see a black screen with several icons in white: a camera in the upper left corner, ISO?HI, a zig-zag arrow, a rectangle and a small camera with an arrow in the upper left corner, 102 in the bottom right corner and L, 1/4 of a circle and a rectangle with an eye in the center in the bottom left corner. After a minute, the screen goes black. I am able to scroll through the pictures I have already taken, but I can't take new pictures.

yes, I am having the same problem with my canon ixus 70, which i bought 14 months ago (damn, out of warranty by a few weeks!). I can take movies, but no stills. i can look at old stills but it won't let me take new ones. and i can't see an image in the stills capture mode - so it will click away and even flash, but doesn't seem to take a photo. i have emailed canon, and will let you know their response. it seems to be a common problem and their responses to people vary from helpfully offering free repairs or replacements even out of warranty, to not really dealign with it. we shall see!

Amazingly, I have the same problem. And whats more.. Canon wont assume responsibility for it. Whats even worse is that since i bought the camera from US and now I am in India the warranty isn't valid even though the camera is hardly a month old. talk about being a global company. Well, about the solution, the service centre people have told me that the internal lens shutter does not open and thats why the screen appears as a black screen since no light reaches the lens. Hoping to get it fixed, but whats hurting is that i have to shell out money for repairing a new camera !!!!!

screen is black and i can't take pictures, was working fine one minute and the next a black screen i can still take pictures of the black screen and i can view the pictures that were on it before, i think canon needs to take some responsibilty her i'v only had this camera since July and maybe used it t times i don't even think i've taken 50 pictures and thats streghing it.

Hi

Very odd... sounds like the camera is just in a power save mode and should still work.

Try pressing the "Disp" button, does the LCD turn on? Press it again after a second.. does it all now turn off? Press it once more and the LCD should turn on again.

If this doesn't work, then one of two things is most likely wrong. Your CCD is bad, or the aperture in the lens is stuck closed. Either problem requires the lens to be replaced, and no camera shop or store will do it for less than $150-200.

If the aperture is stuck no light is getting in the lens so there is nothing for the camera to record, but you can still see the menus and old pictures just fine. If the CCD is bad, the light is getting in but the camera can't convert it to a digital signal that it can record.. so once again you can still see the menus and old pictures but you can't take any new ones.

I've been building an AFFORDABLE digital camera repair business (Google Darntoothysam) for several years now, I'm just trying to reach people I can help. We offer a lens replacement package for about $70 in our store, you won't find a price like that anywhere else!

If you can use us, please let us know. Even if you don't use our services feel free to ask questions if needed.

Good luck from Darntoothysam com

I have a Canon PowerShot SX 10 IS. In Manual mode shows only black screen with icons. In Auto mode everything is fine.

Dear Olia,
Just a quick check on your camera. You have a focus issue so check the settings for the ISO - increase the value, eg. 800 or above and reduce the shutter speed. You can do that by the quick access dial (wheel) facing you. There are four direct access menus in a criss-cross direction. One is assigned to shooting mode - single, multi, timed etc. The other direction will have macro, standard, telephoto etc. the 3rd direction will (towards right) will take you to the ISO settings and the last will take you to the shutter speed settings.

you manipulate the ISO and shutter speed and see your screen will brighten up and the subject will be clear. Refer to the picture attached.

Canon PowerShot SD750

Connect the USB cable and turn on the camera, open My Computer, you will see an camera icon 'Canon xxxxxx'. double click this icon, all pictures will show up, select the pictures then drag them to your folder. Just like you copy files from this folder to another folder:-)

Canon powershot SD750 will not turn on.

Hi
There are several things that could cause this.

1- Check the battery door indicator switch under the battery door and beside the memory card slot. Is the little black switch damaged or missing? Try pressing down gently using a pen it with the door open and then press the power button. Does it turn on?

2- The fuse has blown and needs to be replaced. Offhand I don't recall where it is on the SD750 PCB or how hard it is to solder on a new one (depends on if its tricky to get at or not). Good thing is fuses are really cheap.

3- Other power problem with the PCB due to corrosion or impact damage. The PCB or 'motherboard' of the camera will need to be replaced.

Battery display on canon ixus 75

Its same for everyone. You can only see the battery when its about to run out. IN that case a red flashing icon appears on the upper right corner of the screen otherwise there is no indicator for ixus 75.

Canon Ixus 86015

Sounds like you (inadvertently?) had the Color Accent Mode turned on (an icon which shows an eyedropper with an A next to it), which is available on the same menu where you select Manual Mode.

When you press the Func/Set button, with the icon in the top left corner highlighted, along the bottom you will see the options available, including the Color Accent Mode, any of which are selectable by using the left/right arrows and pressing the Func/Set button again.
