Hey abinanth,

NTSC and PAL refer to two different analog TV broadcasting standards. In North America and Japan, PS2's and other electronic devices generally are sold in the NTSC format only, as that is the standard used in those parts of the world. PAL devices, on the other hand, are primarily used in Europe, Australia and portions of Asia.

While NTSC and PAL do share some similar properties, images are not displayed the same way on a TV screen with both formats. What this means for the average consumer is that in order to ensure that a PS2 will work with their TV, it will probably need to be purchased in the format used in their home country.

Please keep in mind that while NTSC-to-PAL/PAL-to-NTSC adaptors do exist, many electronic devices (including PS2's) are still subject to regional lockouts that prevent the use of any media/discs that were not purchased in the same region of the world.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

On a Craig DVD player how do you change the NTSC to PAL?

NTSC and PAL are not interchangeable on most devices (unless your Craig DVD player is a less common brand that allows this option). NTSC and PAL are the broadcasting standards between different countries. Most of Europe and neighboring areas use PAL. North America and Japan, as well as a few other areas, use NTSC.

These should not affect sound; they affect video. Normally, using a PAL device on an NTSC TV will show a black and white picture with a 50hz buzz present in the speakers. Is that the noise issue you're referring to?

Cant play NTSC games

If you can't play NTSC games then that means your xbox is probably a PAL version. There's not really much you can do about this except to buy PAL version games :(

BTW, NTSC and PAL refer to different regions. NTSC Is north america, while PAL is usually europe.

DVD player only plays in black and white on Soniq 42'' Plasma TV. (Have tried 3 different players all have the same problem)

The color loss is most likely due to a NTSC/PAL compatibility issue. If you bought the players overseas in a PAL region (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0d/PAL-NTSC-SECAM.svg) and the TV is NTSC or vice-versa, there will be a color loss. Thiss because the different regions have different formats and when you go from one to the other, the color does no transfer over. You can buy a PAL to NTSC or NTSC to PAL converter to fix this issue.

I bought an HDTV LCD Sanyo from USA got it with me to Lebanon, when I turn the TV on the picture is so clear but it will not work on the satelite or caple, the picture not clear and has no voice. I need to...

There are currently 3 main television standards used throughout the world:

NTSC - National Television Standards Committee. The oldest existing standard, developed in the USA. First used in 1954. Consists of 525 horizontal lines of display and 60 vertical lines. Sometimes irreverently referred to as "Never Twice the Same Color." Only one type exists, known as NTSC M.
Here is a list of TV STANDAREDS I had for a while and can finally share it with someone. GOOD LUCK!!!! TECHMAN

SECAM - Système électronique pour Couleur avec Mémoire. Developed in France. First used in 1967. A 625-line vertical, 50-line horizontal display. Sometimes referred to by wags as "Something Essentially Contrary to the American Method" or SEcond Colour Always Magenta!" Different types use different video bandwidth and audio carrier specs. Types B and D usually used for VHF; types G, H, and K for UHF; types I, N, M, K1 and L for both VHF/UHF. Different types are generally not compatible.

PAL - Phase Alternating Line. Developed by German engineer Walter Bruch and the German electronic corporation Telefunken. Walter Bruch
patented his invention 1963 and the first commercial application of the PAL system was in August 1967. Also a 625/50-line display and variant of NTSC. Proponents call it "Perfection At Last." Due to the cost of the enormous circuit complexity, critics often refer to it as "Pay A Lot". Different types use different video bandwidth and audio carrier specs. Common types are B, G and H; less common types include D, I, K, N and M. The different types are generally not compatible.

Could I change NTSC to PAL N my LCD Sansung LN T

NTSC and Pal are mainly related to Cable/Air reception. Unless you are trying to connect a SCART cable, you can probably just use the video inputs of the TV. Power Supply differences will be the big issue probably.

Pal to NTSC

Hi, Based on your post/description, you need to get a multi-system TV to go with your multi system VCR if you are going to playback VHS tapes from different regions. You are quite correct "Plays NTSC tapes to NTSC, Will not Play Pal to NTSC" to play PAL (even Secam) you would need a PAL/Secam TV. They have a different system for color and audio. In some cases, you can still play PAL but you get it in black & white and picture squeezed from top & bottom. Hope this be of some help to you. Good luck and kind regards.
